Challan Penalties Difference Between Himachal Pradesh and Punjab

With the help of e-challan, traffic officials are now more active and better equipped than ever before. As the name says, an e-challan is just a traffic challan in a digital form. It is issued to you if you violate a traffic regulation while driving.

The cameras automatically capture you, and the department will issue you a challan. Traffic police and Parivahan websites allow you to view your challan bills and their status.

Latest Penalties for Violating Traffic Rules in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is mountainous, so if you drive on high roads, you need to be extra careful. It is crucial to follow all traffic regulations. The state's traffic police may issue an electronic challan for any violations.

If you live in Himachal Pradesh, you can use the parivahan portal or the Himachal Pradesh e-challan to make an e-challan payment. According to the revised Motor Vehicles Act 2019, here are the latest traffic rule violations and fines in Himachal Pradesh:

  • Driving without a license: The fine is 5,000-7,500

  • The violation of specified speed limits:

For LMV: 1,500-3000

For HMV: 3,000-6,000

  • Emergency Vehicle Obstruction: The fine is Rs.10,000 (or six months in imprisonment).

  • Driving while using a cell phone:

For the first time: 1,500-7,500

For the second time: 10,000-15,000

  • Dangerous Driving/racing First:

First-Time Offenders: 5,000-7,500

For subsequent violations: 10,000-15,000

  • Driving without a valid registration certificate:

For the first timers: 3,000-7,500

For repeat violators: 7,500-15,000

  • Violations of traffic safety, noise and air pollution standards: 5,000 - 15,000

Latest Penalties for Violating Traffic Rules in Punjab

With the e-challan, Punjab Traffic Police is more active than ever. Punjab traffic police e-challans are generated automatically by CCTV cameras in all cities. If you violate traffic laws, a CCTV camera will take your picture and send it to your home for an e-challan.

According to a new state transport department notification on penalties for traffic violations, driving under the influence of alcohol will result in a Rs 5,000 fine for the first offence and Rs 10,000 for further violations, in addition to a three-month license suspension.

Getting familiar with and strictly following traffic rules and regulations is vital to avoid fines. Also, you must take and keep up-to-date with all required documents, such as a driver's license, insurance policy, PUC certificate, and RC.

Here is a list of fines for each violation on a Punjab traffic challan.

  • Driving without a legal licence: The fine is 5,000

  • Driving a light motor vehicle at high speeds: 1000, 2,000

  • Driving an HMV at high speed: 2,000, 4,000

  • Dangerous driving or cell phone use while driving: 2,000, 10,000

  • Speed trials and races: 5000, 10,000

  • Violating guidelines for driving safety, polluting the environment, and noise pollution: 5000, 10,000

  • Driving without a valid registration and a valid Certificate of Fitness: 5,000, 10,000
