Nagpur E Challan

Nagpur has grown into one of Maharashtra's busiest cities, with lakhs of vehicles moving through its streets every single day. To keep roads safer and reduce traffic violations, the Nagpur Traffic Police have adopted a fully digital system for issuing fines. The Nagpur traffic police e challan system has made it far simpler for vehicle owners to know when they have broken a rule and to settle the matter without visiting a police station.

A Nagpur e-challan is an electronic version of the traditional paper fine slip. Instead of an officer writing out a ticket by hand, the details of a traffic violation are recorded digitally and sent directly to the vehicle owner. This traffic e challan Nagpur system relies on technology such as CCTV cameras, speed guns and automatic number plate recognition to spot violations as they happen. Once a violation is detected, the system pulls up the vehicle's registration details and generates e challan automatically. The owner is then informed through SMS or email, along with details of the offence and the fine amount.

What information is on e challan?

When you receive a notice under the Nagpur traffic police e challan system, it will usually include the following details:

  • The type of violation committed
  • A unique reference or challan number for tracking
  • Vehicle details, including the registration number
  • The date, time, and location of the offence
  • The payable fine amount
  • The deadline by which payment must be made
  • Supporting evidence, such as a photograph of the violation

Reviewing these details carefully is useful, as it allows you to confirm whether the challan has been issued correctly before making payment.

Different ways to check e challan status online in Nagpur

Checking whether you have any outstanding fines is straightforward. You can do this in three main ways:

  • Through the official Parivahan website: Visit the government's Parivahan portal and look for the challan status option. Enter your vehicle number, driving licence number, or challan number along with the captcha shown, and the system will display any pending fines.

  • Through the Park+: Park+ also allows you to check your Nagpur e challan by entering your vehicle registration number. This gives a quick overview of any pending or paid fines linked to your vehicle.

  • Through NextGen eChallan: NextGen e challan is a reliable online platform to check pending challan, settle challan, raise grievances and more.

How to pay Nagpur e-challan offline?

Nagpur traffic challan can also be paid offline by visiting your nearest RTO or traffic police station. Reach out to the designated officer or counter, share your concern and settle the challan by paying in cash, card, or through UPI. Remember to collect a receipt afterwards.

Carrying your essential documents, including valid car insurance, at all times also helps you stay compliant during routine checks.

Recent enforcements in Nagpur

Traffic enforcement in and around Nagpur has been stepped up considerably through 2026, with authorities relying heavily on e-challan records to track repeat offenders and recover unpaid dues.

Licence suspensions for repeat offenders

Earlier in the year, the Nagpur Rural Police traffic branch reviewed e-challan records and put forward close to 2,500 proposals to the RTO for action against drivers with multiple violations. As a result, 141 drivers had their licences cancelled or suspended for roughly three months, with the remaining cases still being processed by the RTO.

Common offences among these repeat violators included speeding, jumping red signals, overloading vehicles, and drink driving. According to the Rural Superintendent of Police, overspeeding remains the leading cause of fatal accidents in Nagpur's rural areas, and this drive was described as the first phase of a wider effort to encourage safer driving habits.

Challans issued and fines recovered

City traffic police also reported a sharp rise in enforcement activity, issuing challans to nearly five lakh motorists between January and July 2026, which averages around 2,300 cases a day. Alongside this, over Rs 5.45 crore in pending fines was recovered through dedicated enforcement drives. Riding without a helmet was by far the most common violation, making up roughly two-thirds of all cases recorded during this period. This was followed by improper parking, driving without a valid licence, triple-seat riding, and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Cases of drunk driving and dangerous driving were also recorded, underlining the continued risks posed by such behaviour. May saw the highest number of challans issued in a single month, followed by July and June.

The e challan Nagpur system has made traffic enforcement more transparent and convenient for everyone. By checking your status regularly through the official Parivahan website or Park+, and settling any dues promptly, you can avoid unnecessary penalties and keep your driving record clean.
