tata nexon

The compact SUV segment has seen tremendous growth in India. Many prefer to buy compact SUVs due to the spacious cabin and amazing performance. The segment came into being when in 2013 Ford launched EcoSport, which was a 3-in-1 combo pack. Having said that, Ford EcoSport came with a comfort of a sedan, the rugged look of an SUV, and the practicality of a hatchback.

The success of EcoSport in the Indian market encouraged other automakers to launch compact SUVs, the most recent case being Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon.

breeza vs nexon

This article will help you to find which out of the three should be your next compact SUV.

Ford EcoSport Vs Tata Nexon Vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza: Exterior Design

Design-wise, Ford EcoSport offers an aerodynamic stance with the signature grille design, bold HID headlamps, LED DRLs, fog lamps, alloy wheels, a sunroof, and high-mounted stop lamps.

Tata has given a coupe-inspired aerodynamic shape to the Nexon. The SUV further flaunts bold DRLs, signature LED tail lamps, an electric sunroof, and piano-black ORVMs.

Maruti's techy Brezza is for the ones who love a lot of attention. We say so because the SUV's masculine upright stance is hard to ignore. Design-wise, it features dual LED headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, shark-fin antenna, and geometric alloy wheels among others.

Ford EcoSport Vs Tata Nexon Vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza: Features

  • climate control with voice command
  • SYNC3 with touchscreen
  • AppleCarPlay & Android Auto connectivity

Having said that, the feature highlights include a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ with smart sense powered by ARKAMYS, a wireless charging dock, and many more.

Ford EcoSport Vs Tata Nexon Vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza: Engine Specifications

At its heart, Ford EcoSport draws its power from a 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol unit and a 1.5L TDCi diesel unit. The former churns out a top power of 120 bhp and a peak torque of 149 Nm. The latter generates 98 bhp power and 215 Nm peak torque. Transmission duty is taken care of by a 6-speed automatic gearbox with a paddle shift.

Tata Nexon, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.2L turbocharged Revotron petrol engine and a 1.5L turbocharged Revotorq diesel unit. The former delivers 118 bhp power and 170 Nm torque. The latter churns out 113 bhp power and 260 Nm peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT gearbox.

Under the hood, the Maruti Vitara Brezza gets a K15C petrol engine along with CNG. The SUV generates a top power of 99 bhp and a peak torque of 136 Nm in petrol mode. While on CNG, the vehicle delivers 86 bhp and 121.5 Nm. The motor is further mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Conclusion - Which one should you choose?

Talking about the price, Tata Nexon is easy on the pocket in comparison to Maruti Brezza and Ford EcoSport. It is further available with both petrol and diesel engine. The design is definitely an important point when choosing your next compact SUV, The cabin of the Tata Nexon is quite spacious in comparison to the other two SUV Cars as it is aerodynamically designed.

Since Ford has stopped the production of EcoSport in the Indian market, it will be a wise choice to avoid purchasing this SUV. If in future any service is required then it might turn out to be a problem.
