Till its discontinuation, the Ford Ecosport was available in two well-diversified engine options a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.5-litre petrol version was a decent city commuter with 122 PS and 149 Nm. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre diesel was an absolute mile muncher with 100 PS and 215 Nm.
After the BS6 compliance for its engines, the Ford Ecosport, like many other vehicles, became significantly expensive. Till it was on sale, the Ecosport ranged between Rs 9.27-12.92 lakh for petrol variants and Rs 10.04-13.76 lakh for diesel variants.
Ford is no more operational in India, so you cannot buy a brand-new Ford Ecosport from showroom floors. However, the Ecosport is one of the most popular cars in the used car market. Ford has already assured that it is providing service support to all its customers for ten more years. Considering these points, you can buy a used Ecosport, provided it has been well-worshipped by its previous owner.
In September 2021, Ford shut down its production facilities and sales operations in India, citing the reasons for losses and the global restructuring process. With Ford shutting down its sales operations, all its vehicles, including the Ecosport, got discontinued immediately.
Both petrol and diesel versions of the Ford Ecosport came in Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, SE and S variants. The petrol-automatic version was solely available in an exclusive Titanium+ variant.
The Ford Ecosport had a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard for both powertrain options. However, the petrol engine also came with an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.
There were seven colour options in the Ford Ecosport, namely Canyon Ridge, Lightning Blue, Diamond White, Moondust Silver, Race Red, Absolute Black and Smoke Grey.
Ford claimed 15.9 kmpl for the petrol manual and 14.7 kmpl for the petrol-automatic versions of the Ecosport. However, the diesel-manual version was much more economical, with a claimed economy of 20.9 kmpl.
All the variants of the Ford Ecosport came with a standard warranty of three years, with the option of extending it up to 6 years.
The general maintenance costs for Ford Ecosport exist between Rs 3,718-5,535 for the petrol variants and Rs 4,333-6,483 for the diesel variants. Considering what the other rivals were demanding, the Ecosport was, and still is, one of the most affordable SUVs to maintain.
