While its peppy performance and sleek design are appealing, some might find the interior materials a tad basic. Weighing the pros and cons, the Maruti Brezza emerges as a reliable choice in the competitive SUV market. If efficiency and practicality top your list, this could be your ideal ride.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

The sub-four metre SUV category is currently one of the hottest segments when it comes to cars in India and there is a model from almost every mass-market player.

Maruti Brezza has been a popular choice in this segment since 2016 and has recently undergone a complete makeover with several updates. While the new model addresses many of the shortcomings of the outgoing model and has many attractive features, it may not be suitable for everyone.

Therefore, if you are considering a Maruti Brezza, it is important to understand the pros and cons of Brezza, which we will discuss in this blog.

Pros of Owning a Maruti Brezza

Gas-Sipper

With shifting fuel costs you may be compelled to buy that vehicle that takes you further for less. Well, one of the biggest advantages of owning a Maruti Brezza is its fuel efficiency.

The updated Brezza is equipped with the K-series DualJet petrol engine with smart hybrid, which is more fuel-efficient than the previous one. The LXI and VXI variants with the 5-speed manual transmission offer an ARAI-rated fuel economy of 20.15 km/l, while the ZXI+ variants offer an FE of 19.89 km/l.

Even the automatic cars have a respectable fuel efficiency rating of 19.80 km/l. In addition, Maruti has also introduced a CNG variant that delivers an impressive claimed FE of 25.51 km/kg.

Spacious Cabin

The Maruti Brezza may be a sub-four metre SUV, but it offers ample space for passengers. Ingress and egress are smooth, and the cabin offers good overall space. Even tall adults will find the legroom and headspace ample in the rear seat. There's definitely more space here in comparison with the Hyundai Venue or the Kia Sonet.

Solid List Of Features

Previously, Brezza owners always complained that the car felt really basic and overall lacked the contemporary features found in the competition.

The new Brezza however, comes loaded with all the bells and whistles as well as safety features. Headlining that list is actually the electric sunroof followed by loads of other goodies such as wireless charging, a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, ambient lighting, and a segment-first head-up display.

In terms of safety, the Brezza offers 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, a 360-degree camera system, and ISOFIX.

City-friendliness and comfortable ride

There is no replacement for "displacement in stop-and-go traffic, The large displacement petrol engine in the Brezza produces a lot of low-end torque and is very tractable at low to medium speeds.

When near to idling RPM, it doesn't jerk or feel strained. Therefore you don't need to continuously juggle through the gears. Pair that with the light clutch and steering control as well as an easy-to-use gearbox, and the Brezza becomes an effortless city car, exactly what Maruti is own tagline states - a city-bred SUV.

Moreover, Maruti Suzuki has tuned the Brezza suspension just right for Indian roads. The Brezza has excellent low-speed ride quality and effectively absorbs potholes and irregularities.

Its a Maruti!

The foundation of Maruti Suzuki in India is its outstanding after-sales support, extensive dealer network, and hassle-free ownership experience. The Brezza benefits from a dependable after-sales network, and even in isolated areas, it's very simple to locate a capable mechanic for the vehicle.

In addition, the Brezza gets a higher resale value with minimal depreciation due to its popularity. Not to mention the Brezza's 1.5-liter petrol engine's inexpensive maintenance and strong dependability. There haven't been any significant concerns about the engine, which is the same one found in many other Marutis.

Cons of Owning a Maruti Brezza

Lacks Performance

The Brezza is more of a sedate cruiser than an exceptional performer on the open road. Even if you go pedal to the metal, it's more noise than progress, and the Brezza takes its own sweet time to build speed.

It just can't match the meaty mid-range punch of the turbo petrol rivals. So if you are a driving enthusiast, its better to look somewhere else as the flat power delivery and the slow revving engine will leave you wanting more.

Not value for money

Maruti Suzuki has always been known for its competitive pricing, and the outgoing Vitara Brezza was reasonably priced as well. However, the prices of the new Brezza are simply exorbitant.

While there are loads of new features in the Brezza, most of them are mostly limited to the top-end ZXI+ trim. In fact, the top-of-the-line, fully-loaded Brezza costs an incredible Rs 14.04 lakh (ex-showroom), making it among the most expensive B2-segment SUVs. So much so that the new Brezza is now similarly priced or more expensive than its rivals that offer turbo petrol engines and better features.

Lack of Options

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a fuel-efficient SUV, but it lags behind competitors that offer diesel engines. For example, the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300 all have diesel engines that are extremely fuel efficient. Nor does the Brezza offer a fun-to-drive turbo petrol engine which also most of its rivals offer.

Conclusion

So, now you are aware of all the Brezza Pros and Cons. In summary, if you are looking for a reliable and efficient compact SUV Cars that is easy to drive on a daily basis and comes loaded with all the creature comforts, the 2023 Brezza might need your attention. For anything else, the competitors do it better.
