Maruti Suzuki Ignis Recall Announced Over Rear Parking Sensor Issue: What Owners Need to Know

Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall for select Ignis hatchbacks due to a potential issue with the rear parking sensor system. Affected owners are being contacted by the company, and the faulty component will be inspected and replaced free of cost, helping ensure proper functionality, reliability, and continued safety for customers.

  • India's largest carmaker has issued a voluntary recall for the Ignis to address an issue where the reverse parking sensor alarm may fail to activate correctly.

  • Affected owners are being asked to visit their nearest authorised service centre to have the faulty component replaced completely free of charge.

Maruti Suzuki has initiated a service recall for the Ignis hatchback after identifying a potential issue related to the vehicle's rear parking sensor system. According to reports, a faulty controller assembly linked to the parking sensor setup may prevent the system from functioning correctly in certain vehicles.

The company has proactively started notifying affected customers and has instructed authorised workshops to replace the defective component at no additional cost.

While the exact number of affected vehicles has not been officially disclosed, the recall highlights Maruti Suzuki's efforts to address the issue before it affects the ownership experience.

What Caused the Recall?

The recall reportedly stems from a fault in the controller assembly associated with the reverse parking sensor system. In some cases, the defect may cause the rear parking sensors to malfunction or fail to provide accurate alerts while reversing.

Rear parking sensors play an important role in assisting drivers during low-speed manoeuvres and parking situations. Although the issue is not known to affect the vehicle's driving performance, Maruti Suzuki has chosen to replace the affected component as a preventive measure.

What Should Ignis Owners Do?

Owners of affected vehicles are advised to check any communication received from Maruti Suzuki or their nearest authorised service centre. Customers identified under the recall campaign will be contacted directly by the company.

Once notified, owners can schedule an appointment at an authorised workshop where technicians will inspect the vehicle and replace the faulty part if required. The entire process will be carried out free of charge.

Why Vehicle Recalls Matter

Automotive recalls are a standard industry practice used to rectify potential defects before they lead to larger issues. Manufacturers often initiate voluntary recalls after identifying concerns through internal quality checks, customer feedback or supplier assessments.

By proactively replacing the affected parking sensor controller assembly, Maruti Suzuki aims to ensure that Ignis owners continue to receive the intended functionality and safety benefits of the vehicle's parking assistance system.

The latest recall serves as a reminder for vehicle owners to stay informed about manufacturer service campaigns and promptly address any recall notices they receive. For affected Ignis owners, the recommended course of action is to contact an authorised Maruti Suzuki workshop and complete the inspection and replacement process at the earliest opportunity.
