MINI launched the Oxford Edition at Rs 55.50 lakh (ex-showroom) on 16 October 2026, with deliveries from day one. It arrives as a fully built import, in limited quantities.
Under the bonnet it is a Cooper S: 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, claimed 204 hp and 300 Nm, with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The extra money buys styling and trim.
MINI's latest special edition for India puts a Union Jack on the roof and little else under the skin. The Cooper Oxford Edition was launched at MINI Speed Motorwagen, the newly opened Lucknow dealership, after pre-bookings opened on 8 October. It marks 25 years of modern MINI production at Plant Oxford in the UK, where BMW Group has built the car since 2001. India gets only the Cooper S version, based on the Favoured Pack.
A loud roof on a familiar body
The white contrast roof with a large Union Jack graphic is the centrepiece. A red and white stripe, borrowed from the flag, runs along the length of the car, and the mirror caps are white. The boot carries a crossed-flags sticker that blends the Union Jack with a chequered racing flag.
Two paint colours are on offer in India: Indigo Sunset Blue and Chilli Red. Both ride on 18-inch two-tone alloys with edition-specific hub covers. The body itself is unchanged, with no wider arches or new bumpers in the Indian specification.
Cabin and interiors
Inside, the theme stays in specific spots. There is a textured Union Jack print on the steering wheel spoke, a circular Union Jack mat on the driver's side and a chequered flag mat on the passenger side. Indian cars also get 'Oxford' lettering on the door sills in blue and red.
The seats are JCW Sport units in black Vescin, a synthetic upholstery, with electric adjustment. The round 240 mm OLED screen (about 9.4 inches) runs MINI Operating System 9, and the equipment list includes a head-up display, Harman Kardon sound, wireless charging and a panoramic glass roof.
One caution. A pre-launch report listed a heated steering wheel, seat memory and a massage function, but the launch coverage dropped them. Ask the dealer whether they are fitted.
Nothing has changed under the bonnet
The powertrain is the Cooper S's: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol with a claimed 204 hp and 300 Nm, driving the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT), which has two clutches and no torque converter. MINI claims 0 to 100 kmph in 6.6 seconds and a 242 kmph top speed. One report also quotes a rated 16.82 kpl.
Power figures vary between 201 and 204 across reports. It is the same 150 kW engine, and the gap most likely comes from metric versus imperial horsepower.
Where it sits in the Cooper range
At Rs 55.50 lakh, the Oxford Edition costs Rs 2.25 lakh more than the Favoured Pack it is based on and Rs 15,000 less than the Cooper JCW.

What it means for buyers
The Oxford Edition suits someone who wants a limited-run MINI with a story and is happy to pay Rs 2.25 lakh over the Favoured Pack for the look. Do not expect extra power: the engine matches the Cooper S, which starts at Rs 44.45 lakh. Before booking, ask the dealer how many cars India is getting, what the on-road price is in your state, and whether your colour is still open.
