Hyundai Bayon Launched at ₹10 Lakh; CNG Version Coming in 2027

Hyundai has launched the Bayon in India with introductory prices starting at ₹10 lakh. Positioned below the Creta, the new SUV gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine, manual and CVT gearbox options, a feature-rich cabin and a CNG version scheduled for January 2027.

  • The newly launched Hyundai Bayon enters the midsize SUV segment starting at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), slotting neatly between the Venue and the Creta.

  • A CNG version is scheduled to arrive in January 2027, although its price, fuel efficiency and detailed specifications are yet to be announced.

Hyundai has launched the Bayon in India, with introductory ex-showroom prices starting at ₹9.99 lakh and reaching ₹18 lakh for the top variant. Positioned below the Creta in Hyundai’s SUV line-up, the Bayon adds another option for buyers considering an SUV in this segment.

It is manufactured at Hyundai’s Chennai facility for domestic sales and exports. The SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and offers a range of cabin technology, comfort and safety features.

Petrol Engine and Variant-Wise Pricing

The Hyundai Bayon is currently offered with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque.

Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic, depending on the variant. The CVT version also features a Dash Boost mode for overtaking and has an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 18.6 km/l.

The variant-wise ex-showroom prices are listed below:

VariantPetrol MTPetrol CVT
HX2₹10.00 lakh-
HX3₹10.90 lakh-

Note: Prices should be verified against Hyundai’s latest official price list before publication.

Distinctive Design and Dimensions

The Hyundai Bayon features the brand’s ‘Art of Steel’ design language, with sharp lines and a bold exterior design. Built on Hyundai’s Global K enhanced platform, it gets L-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED projector headlamps and prominent wheel-arch cladding at the front and sides.

The side profile features 17-inch petal-style alloy wheels, while the rear gets an integrated roof spoiler and a slim black strip connecting the LED tail lamp design. The key dimensions and storage details are listed below:

  • Length: 4,245 mm

  • Width: 1,810 mm

  • Height: 1,605 mm (with roof rails)

  • Wheelbase: 2,600 mm

  • Ground Clearance: 205 mm

  • Boot Space: 505 litres

Cabin, Technology and Safety Features

The Hyundai Bayon’s cabin features two 12.3-inch displays, one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. Physical controls for the climate system make everyday adjustments easier, while the steering-mounted drive mode selector offers Eco, Normal and Sport settings. The SUV also gets Bluelink connected-car technology and a generative AI voice assistant.

Depending on the variant, cabin features include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat, a Bose sound system, ambient lighting and reclining rear seats with two-step adjustment. Rear AC vents are also provided for passenger comfort.

Safety equipment includes six airbags, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, four-wheel disc brakes and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). An electronic parking brake with auto-hold is also available, with equipment varying by variant.

Factory-Fitted CNG Version Expected in January 2027

Hyundai is expected to introduce a factory-fitted CNG version of the Bayon in January 2027, expanding the range for buyers looking for an alternative to petrol. The CNG model is expected to use the 1.5-litre engine with a six-speed manual gearbox, although its final specifications and variant availability have not been confirmed.

Details such as the CNG tank capacity, fuel efficiency and boot-space impact are yet to be officially announced. The CNG version’s price is also unconfirmed, so any expected premium over the equivalent petrol variants should be treated as an estimate until Hyundai releases official details.
