Reservations are live on Tesla India's website, with total deposits of ₹50,06,000 for Performance and ₹2,50,25,000 for Thrust; neither figure is an ex-showroom price.
No ex-showroom price or delivery date has been announced for India, and the initial production run is left-hand drive only, with no right-hand-drive timeline published.
Tesla has opened reservations for the second-generation Roadster on its India website. The reservation page was live when checked on 19 October 2026, and it lists three trims: Performance, Thrust and Rocket.
The car was revealed on 15 October 2026 at SpaceX's rocket test and development centre in McGregor, Texas, where Elon Musk said production is targeted for 2028. Tesla's pages publish no delivery schedule for any market.
What the reservation requires
Performance and Thrust each open with an initial payment of ₹5,01,000, which is fully refundable. The balance is due within 10 days: ₹45,05,000 for Performance and ₹2,45,24,000 for Thrust. Tesla cancels a reservation if the balance is not paid in that window, and it does not refund modifications. Thrust is limited to one order per customer. The Rocket trim is invite only and carries no booking amount. Payments can be made by card or UPI.
These deposits are not ex-showroom prices, which are the price of a car before road tax, registration and insurance. Tesla has announced no final price for any trim in India.
Performance figures are claimed, not published
Tesla's global Roadster page describes each trim but publishes no numeric specifications, such as acceleration, range or battery size. Press coverage of the reveal reports that the Performance trim reaches 0 to 60 mph (about 97 km/h) in under 1.6 seconds, the Thrust in under 0.9 seconds and the Rocket in under 0.59 seconds. Reported top speed is above 230 mph, and a range target above 300 miles has been cited. These are claimed figures rather than official specifications. A single specialist report also cites a battery of about 150 kWh, but with no second source to confirm it, that figure is left out.
Delivery, steering and regulation remain open
Three questions remain unanswered for Indian buyers. The 2028 production target is a statement of intent, and no delivery schedule for India has been published.
The initial run is left-hand drive, but India is a right-hand-drive market, where the steering wheel sits on the right, and Tesla has announced no right-hand-drive timeline for the Roadster.
The cold-gas thrusters, small jets that release compressed gas, are marketed for acceleration and flight assist. Tesla's page states that the Rocket trim is not approved for public road use, and any thruster or flight capability would need separate regulatory approval in India, which has not been announced.
| Trim | Seats | Key features | Reservation deposit (total) | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Performance | 2 | Active aero and multi-mode suction system | ₹50,06,000 | Open |
| Thrust (Limited) | 2 | Performance features plus acceleration thrusters | ₹2,50,25,000, one order per customer | Open |
| Rocket | 1 | Thrust features plus full flight system | No booking amount | Invite only, not approved for public road use |
Note: Deposits are reservation payments, not ex-showroom prices, and the specification figures in this article are claimed rather than officially published.
What it means for buyers
Reserving now is possible, but the deposit commits money to a car whose price, delivery date and right-hand-drive plans are still unknown. Anyone considering the Thrust should weigh the ₹2,50,25,000 total against those gaps. Buyers who prefer certainty can wait for an official ex-showroom price, a delivery schedule and a right-hand-drive plan. In either case, confirm the terms directly with Tesla before paying.
