Mahindra XUV 3XO & XUV700 Waiting Time Doubles in May

Surging demand for Mahindra’s XUV 3XO and XUV700 has pushed delivery waits to unprecedented levels this May, with entry-level and mid-spec variants seeing significant delays despite increased production efforts, highlighting the SUVs’ growing popularity and supply challenges across the range.

India’s SUV-loving market shows no signs of slowing down, and Mahindra’s compact XUV 3XO and flagship XUV700 are feeling the heat. As bookings surpassed record milestones—1 lakh for the XUV 3XO and 2.5 lakh for the XUV700—their delivery slots slipped back significantly in May 2025.

Waiting Times Surge Across XUV 3XO Lineup

  • MX1 (Petrol): Over 1 year

  • MX2 / MX2 Pro (Petrol): Up to 3 months

  • MX3 / MX3 Pro (Petrol): Up to 2 months

  • AX5 (Petrol): Up to 2 months

  • AX5 L (Petrol): Up to 1 month

  • AX7 / AX7 L (Petrol): Immediate to 1 month

  • All Diesel variants: Immediate to 1 month

Entry-level MX1 buyers now face waits exceeding 12 months—a marginal rise over April. Mid-range petrol trims (MX2 through AX5) see 2-3 months delays, while top-end petrol and all diesel models clear within 30 days.

Overall, wait times have doubled since March, despite Mahindra ramping up output.

XUV700 Faces Month-long Delays

  • MX / AX5 S / AX5 / AX7 / AX7 L (Petrol & Diesel): 1 month

  • ESP / 6-seater / Dual-tone: Dealer-specific

Earlier in March, most XUV700 trims were delivered within two weeks. Now, every standard variant—from entry MX to flagship AX7 L—carries a 30-day wait.

Special-feature models (ESP pack, six-seat layout, dual-tone schemes) vary by region and require dealer confirmation.

What’s Behind the Wait?

As they say, everything is worth the wait. Well, here’s what Mahindra has to offer for those waiting for their lineups:

  1. Record Sales: XUV3XO crossed 100,000 units in FY 2025; XUV700 hit 250,000 at the year’s start.

  2. Supply Chain Strains: Global chip shortages and logistic hiccups continue to affect automotive output.

  3. Feature Updates: Recent launches—like the XUV700 Ebony edition—add new paint options and equipment, stretching production lines.

  4. Production Priorities: Mahindra balances ICE SUVs alongside its growing EV programme, leading to capacity juggling.

Overall, Mahindra’s XUV 3XO and XUV700 continue to outsell rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, MG Hector and Alcazar, underlining their strong appeal. But as demand outpaces supply, buyers must brace for longer waits or explore alternative variants to get behind the wheel sooner. If you’re planning to book, weigh your preferred features against delivery timelines, and talk to multiple dealers to find the fastest route to your new SUV.
