Honda India has confirmed May 22, 2026, as the launch date for the 2026 City facelift, City Hybrid facelift, and the all-new ZR-V.
The ZR-V will be Honda's new flagship model in India, imported as a Completely Built-up Unit, and is expected to be powered by a 184 PS strong-hybrid powertrain with an estimated starting price of Rs 40 lakh.
May has turned out to be quite an eventful month for Honda India. The Japanese carmaker is set to launch facelifted versions of the City and City Hybrid, as well as the new ZR-V, all on 22 May. The ZR-V represents a fresh nameplate for the brand in India since the introduction of the Elevate back in September 2023.
What the 2026 Honda City Facelift Brings to the Table
Styling Refreshed, Silhouette Retained
The overall exterior design of the City and City Hybrid facelift is expected to remain largely the same, with updates focused on a redesigned front fascia that could include refreshed bumpers and a new grille.
The 16-inch alloy wheels might sport an updated look, while the rear is expected to receive reprofiled taillamps and new bumpers. Honda is also likely to refresh the colour palette, bringing in new shades alongside the six options offered on the current version.
New Features on the Inside, Familiar Powertrains Underneath
Inside, the cabin layout is expected to remain broadly similar to the current model, though notable additions could include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, a powered driver's seat, and a 360-degree parking camera.
On the safety front, both facelifts are likely to come equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control, a blind view monitor, and Level 2 ADAS.
Mechanically, neither variant is expected to change. The standard City will continue with its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 121 PS and 145 Nm, offered with a 6-speed manual or CVT, while the City Hybrid carries forward its 1.5-litre strong-hybrid setup making 126 PS and 253 Nm, paired with an e-CVT.
The City facelift is expected to start from Rs 12.50 lakh, and the City Hybrid from around Rs 20.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Honda ZR-V Steps in as the Brand's New Flagship SUV
A Premium CBU with Strong-Hybrid Muscle
The Honda ZR-V will be sold in India as a Completely Built-up Unit, meaning its design and dimensions are likely to be identical to the international-spec model. Up front, it gets a clean and sporty fascia with a large gloss-black grille, slim LED headlights with DRLs, and a sculpted bonnet.
From the side, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and gloss-black body cladding give it a well-proportioned look, while the rear carries LED taillights and dual exhaust tips.
Inside, the ZR-V features a clean dashboard with honeycomb mesh trim, a three-spoke steering wheel, a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, and a digital driver's display. Notably, Honda has swapped out the conventional gearshift lever for buttons in the centre console, freeing up space in the cabin.
Internationally, the ZR-V is offered with features such as a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, heads-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and 11 airbags. It has also scored 4 stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests conducted in 2023. How many of these features will make it to the India-spec model remains to be confirmed.
In India, the ZR-V is expected to be available solely with a 2-litre naturally aspirated petrol strong-hybrid system paired with two electric motors, producing 184 PS and 315 Nm through an e-CVT. It is expected to compete with the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Skoda Kodiaq, and Jeep Meridian, with an estimated starting price of Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
