Mini India has opened pre-bookings for the Cooper S GP Inspired Edition, limited to only 30 units nationwide
Positioned above the Cooper S JCW Pack, it brings race-inspired styling upgrades while retaining the standard 201bhp engine
Mini India has thrown down the gauntlet for enthusiasts with the launch of pre-bookings for the Cooper S GP Inspired Edition. The special edition model will be limited to just 30 units, with prices expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The car is expected to carry a price tag somewhere between Rs. 57 lakh and Rs. 58 lakh (ex-showroom), sitting above the Cooper S JCW Pack, which is currently priced at Rs. 55.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
For those who have been waiting for something a little more special than the standard Cooper S, this is it.
Exterior Design, GP-Inspired Aggression From Every Angle
The GP Inspired Edition is not shy about making its intentions known. It is offered exclusively in the Legend Grey exterior shade, paired with a Chilli Red contrast roof and mirror caps. The visual upgrades are thorough. The hatchback gets a JCW styling package that includes revised bumpers, a new grille design, side skirts, and a roof spoiler.
The GP-specific detailing goes even further. Distinguishing elements include front and side winglets, bonnet stripes, illuminated door sills, and a rear diffuser. Mini has also equipped this edition with 17-inch black alloy wheels, while the C-pillar carries a unique "1 of 30" badge to highlight its limited production status. It is the sort of detailing that makes a car feel genuinely special rather than simply a cosmetic exercise.
Cabin Experience, JCW Sport Touches Inside
Step inside and the sporting theme continues without interruption. The cabin receives JCW sport seats with red accents on the headrests, along with a JCW-specific steering wheel. The tech suite is well-stocked, too.
Feature highlights include a circular 9.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, a panoramic glass roof, a powered driver seat, a heads-up display, and Level 1 ADAS functions.
Powertrain, Familiar Punch, Proven Performance
Underneath all that visual drama, the mechanical package remains unchanged from the standard Cooper S, which is no bad thing.
The GP Inspired Edition continues with the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 201bhp and 300Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Mini claims a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 6.6 seconds. It is quick, refined, and more than adequate for the kind of spirited driving this car clearly encourages.
Mini India's Growing Special Edition Portfolio
This is not a standalone release but part of a broader strategy. Mini India has been steadily expanding its special edition portfolio in recent months with models such as the Convertible S JCW Pack and Cooper S Victory Edition, while also opening bookings for the Countryman C.
The GP Inspired Edition is the most focused and track-referencing of the lot, and with only 30 units available, prospective buyers would do well not to delay.
