The M3 CS Touring has officially been revealed by BMW. It is a more Crazed version of the high-performance estate. Compared to the M3 Touring, the CS is endowed with some fairly modest alterations on the skin and raises horsepower while whispering a little less on the scales.
BMW M3 CS Touring: Exterior Changes and Interior Modifications
The face of the M3 CS Touring is almost identical to that of the M3 CS sedan, except where it is illuminated by the new diagonal LED signature laid into the headlights. The elongated kidney grilles have received a new horizontal Y-shaped design with a red accent bordering them, while the hood now bears two large black air ducts, and a more pronounced carbon fiber splitter can be found beneath the bumper.
The M3 CS Touring is offered by BMW only in four color options:
British Racing Green
Frozen Solid White
Laguna Seca Blue, and
Sapphire Black
The distinguishing features of the side view of M3 CS Touring are limited to carbon-fiber mirror caps and new forging wheel designs. The 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels offered as standard can be had in either gold-bronze or black at no charge, both satin-finished.
At the rear, styling remains practically unchanged, apart from the carbon fiber rear diffuser and the red outline on the roof spoiler.
The bulk of the interior is similar to that of the M3 Touring, but the bucket seats, illuminated 'CS' logos and carbon-fiber shells are some items that stand out, along with the carbon-fiber paddle shifters and a little carbon trim on the dashboard.
BMW M3 CS Touring: Engine and Performance Upgrades
Just like the previous variants of CS from BMW, this car gets another 20 horses from the inline-six 3.0-litre engine because of an increase in boost pressure from normal to 0.4 bar. This gives the entire power of the engine as 543hp and a top speed of 300kmph, that is 20kph more than what is standard for the M3 Touring. Add to that, BMW claims that by using carbon fibers in some of the exterior bits of the M3 CS Touring, it weighs 15 kilograms lesser than the M3 Touring.
The M3 CS Touring hits 100kph in just 3.5 seconds, which is about 0.1 seconds less than the M3 Touring, thanks to increased power delivery and lower weight. In addition, several upgrades to vehicle dynamics are provided, including stiffened suspension and added rigidity with two cast aluminum strut braces in front. Another interesting option is the M compound brakes standard on the M3 CS Touring and the carbon-ceramic ones optional.
Delivery Update
Deliveries of the M3 CS Touring are set to commence in March. The superfast estate is predicted to be under limited production, with specific numbers not yet disclosed. The M4 CS was launched in India in October, but it seems unlikely that the M3 CS Touring will be brought to India due to the lack of popularity for the estate body.
