The petrol-powered 2026 Tata Tiago facelift has been spotted undergoing road trials near the Akurdi area in Pune.
This marks the third facelift for the Tiago, arriving less than a year and a half after the second update in January 2025, reflecting an unusually accelerated refresh cycle even by Tata's own standards.
Tata Motors has never been shy about keeping its lineup fresh, but the pace at which the Tiago is being refreshed is turning heads. The hatchback received its second facelift as recently as January 2025, and here it is again, already doing the rounds as a test mule near the Akurdi area in Pune. This will be the third facelift in the model's lifetime, and going by the spy shots, the updates are set to be cosmetic rather than wholesale.
As the primary source notes, this marks a shift in Tata's update strategy, given the brand has not historically cycled through refreshes this quickly.
What the Camouflaged Test Mule Reveals
The test mule was caught in full-body camouflage, but quite a few visual changes can still be read from the images.
At the front, there is a new set of headlights, likely projector LEDs with integrated LED turn indicators, alongside a redesigned bumper. The fog lamps have been pushed noticeably lower than on the current model, which subtly alters the front fascia's character. The overall side silhouette remains familiar, as expected, but the alloy wheels are new, sporting a geometric pattern that gives the car a bolder stance.
Rear End Gets a Notable First
Perhaps the most interesting detail visible through the camouflage is at the rear. The Tiago is set to receive LED turn indicators on its taillights for the first time in the model's history. These indicators are expected to feature three vertical LED slats in a non-sequential arrangement, and the tail lights themselves may go fully LED as well. The rear bumper is also expected to be redesigned.
Interior Changes Expected to Be Measured
Given that the 2025 update already brought a comprehensive cabin overhaul, Tata is not expected to rework the interior again so soon. However, a few additions are anticipated.
An 8-inch TFT instrument cluster, a push-button start, an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror, 360-degree cameras, a front centre armrest and rear air conditioning vents are among the features being widely expected. The current 10.2-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is likely to carry over as is.
Powertrain Remains Unchanged
Under the bonnet, there is little reason to expect any disruption. The familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine is set to continue, as is the factory-fitted i-CNG option. Both manual and AMT gearbox choices are expected to remain available.
The Electric Version Is Also Being Tested
It is worth noting that the ICE facelift sighting in Pune is a separate development from the Tiago EV test mule spotted earlier this year.
Both variants are heading for updates, which makes sense given that they co-exist as Tata's entry-level offerings across fuel types. For the EV, a bump in battery capacity beyond the current 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh options, as well as improved charging speeds, has been speculated, though nothing has been confirmed at this stage. The EV currently offers a certified range of up to 293 km.
When Can Buyers Expect It
A mid-2026 launch window is widely anticipated, though Tata Motors has made no official announcement. Given the cosmetic nature of the updates, any price increase over current figures is expected to be marginal.
