New RTO Rules on Minor Driving: Jail Time and Heavy Fines Await Offending Parents
In response to this incident, the RTO is set to implement new rules that significantly increase the penalties for parents or guardians of minors caught driving. Starting June 1, 2024, if a minor is found driving any vehicle, their parent or guardian could face a hefty fine of up to ₹25,000. This substantial increase aims to serve as a strong deterrent against allowing underage individuals to operate vehicles.
