- Toyota Kirloskar Motor crosses 3 lakh cumulative hybrid vehicle sales in India, commanding an 80 per cent share of the strong-hybrid segment.
- The Innova HyCross was the top contributor in FY2026, accounting for over 50 per cent of all hybrid car sales in the country.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced a significant milestone this week, having sold 3 lakh hybrid vehicles cumulatively in India. The achievement reflects a growing appetite for green mobility solutions across the country, particularly in the premium and luxury segments.
Toyota now holds an 80 per cent share in India's strong-hybrid market, establishing itself as the category's clear frontrunner. The remaining share is held by Maruti Suzuki, which itself uses Toyota's hybrid powertrain technology in several of its models.
The Four Models That Powered Toyota to This Number
The journey to 3 lakh units was driven largely by two models. The Innova HyCross and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder together accounted for the lion's share of hybrid sales, while the Camry Hybrid and the Vellfire luxury MPV contributed meaningfully to round off the cumulative total.
Each of these vehicles pairs an electric motor with a petrol engine, with the system switching between the two seamlessly to deliver strong fuel efficiency in day-to-day driving conditions.
How FY2026 Hybrid Sales Stacked Up Across the Market
In FY2026 alone, the Innova HyCross led the segment convincingly, with 62,586 units sold and a 50.68 per cent share of total hybrid sales.
The Hyryder followed with 35,745 units at 28.94 per cent. The table below captures a full picture of hybrid car sales in FY2026 across all manufacturers.

Three Decades of Global Hybrid Expertise Behind the Push
Toyota's early entry into the hybrid space compared to rivals has played a significant role in shaping its current dominance.
The company brings 30 years of global hybrid expertise to the table, a confidence that has gradually translated into strong buyer trust within India.
On a global scale, Toyota's total electrified vehicle sales spanning hybrids, EVs, and plug-in hybrids have crossed the 38 million mark, with the company claiming a saving of over 197 million tonnes of CO2 as a result.
What Toyota Says About Reaching This Landmark
Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, spoke about the achievement with conviction. "We are immensely proud to achieve the milestone of 3 lakh hybrid vehicle sales in India, reflecting the strong and growing customer trust in Toyota's Self-charging Hybrid Electric technology," he said. He further added that the company's philosophy of Mass Electrification is rooted in offering practical, scalable, and inclusive mobility solutions, with hybrid technology serving as a critical bridge towards a cleaner future without compromising on performance or reliability.
