As petrol prices continue to rise, more and more customers are turning to greener, more economical fuel alternatives such as CNG and electric vehicles. CNG cars, in particular, have gained significant popularity due to their superior mileage and eco-friendly attributes. If you are considering purchasing a CNG car on a budget, here’s a detailed look at the top 10 most affordable models with factory-fitted CNG kits in India.

1. Maruti Alto K10

Currently, the Maruti Suzuki’s entry-level hatchback new Alto K10 is the cheapest CNG car. Alto K10 is available in two mid-variant Lxi and Vxi having 1-litre petrol-CNG engine with outputs 57 PS and 82 Nm in CNG mode and has 5-speed manual transmission. This will cost from Rs 5,00,000 for the Alto K10 CNG. 74 lakh and increases up to Rs 5. 96 lakh.

2. Maruti S-Presso

The Maruti S-Presso, another budget-friendly option, comes with a CNG variant in its Lxi and Vxi trims. It features a 1-litre petrol-CNG engine delivering 57 PS and 82 Nm in CNG mode, coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The S-Presso CNG is priced between Rs 5.92 lakh and Rs 6.12 lakh.

3. Maruti Wagon R

The Maruti Wagon R, a popular compact hatchback, is available with a CNG kit in its lower-spec Lxi and Vxi variants. It shares the same 1-litre petrol engine as the Alto K10 and S-Presso, generating 57 PS and 82 Nm in CNG mode. The Wagon R CNG variants are priced from Rs 6.45 lakh to Rs 6.89 lakh.

4. Maruti Eeco

The Maruti Eeco, a versatile people mover, offers a CNG option in its 5-seater AC (O) variant. Powered by a 1.2-litre petrol-CNG engine, the Eeco produces 72 PS and 95 Nm in CNG mode, with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Eeco CNG is available at Rs 6.58 lakh.

5. Tata Tiago

Tata Motors’ entry-level hatchback, the Tiago, comes with a twin-cylinder CNG technology that maintains a usable boot space. The Tiago CNG is available in all variants except the mid-spec XT(O) and XZO+ trims. It features a 1.2-litre petrol-CNG engine producing 73.5 PS and 95 Nm in CNG mode. Prices for the Tiago CNG range from Rs 6.60 lakh to Rs 8.90 lakh.

6. Maruti Celerio

The Maruti Celerio offers a CNG variant in its mid-spec Vxi trim. It is powered by a 57 PS 1-litre petrol-CNG engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Celerio Vxi CNG is priced at Rs 6.74 lakh.

7. Tata Altroz

The Tata Altroz is the only premium hatchback on this list, offering CNG powertrains across eight variants: XE, XM+, XM+S, XZ, XZ Lux, XZ+S, XZ+S Lux, and XZ+OS. The Altroz CNG features a twin-cylinder technology, providing a practical boot space of 210 litres. It is equipped with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol-CNG engine delivering 73.5 PS and 103 Nm in CNG mode, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Prices range from Rs 7.60 lakh to Rs 10.99 lakh.

8. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is available in two mid-spec variants, Magna and Sportz, with a CNG option. It features a 1.2-litre petrol-CNG engine producing 69 PS and 95 Nm in CNG mode, available with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Grand i10 Nios CNG is priced between Rs 7.68 lakh and Rs 8.23 lakh.

9. Tata Tigor

The Tata Tigor offers CNG variants across three trims: XM, XZ, and XZ+. Except for the base variant, all trims come with both manual and automatic transmission options. The Tigor’s twin-cylinder technology ensures usable boot space. It is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol-CNG engine generating 73.5 PS and 95 Nm in CNG mode. Prices range from Rs 7.75 lakh to Rs 9.55 lakh.

10. Hyundai Aura

The Hyundai Aura, a sub-compact sedan, offers CNG variants in its mid-spec S and SX trims. It features the same 1.2-litre petrol-CNG engine as the Grand i10 Nios, delivering 69 PS and 95 Nm in CNG mode, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Aura CNG is priced from Rs 8.31 lakh to Rs 9.05 lakh.
