Skoda has started handing over the Kodiaq RS to customers in India
All 50 units of the performance SUV have been sold out
Skoda Auto India has begun deliveries of the Kodiaq RS, marking the next chapter for the brand's sportiest SUV offering in the country. The very first car to be handed over was finished in a striking Steel Grey shade, one of four colour options available with the model.
Buyers can also choose from Moon White, Velvet Red, and Magic Black, giving them a reasonably varied palette despite the car's single-variant strategy.
The rollout comes close on the heels of the model's launch, when Skoda revealed prices starting at Rs 66.99 lakh ex-showroom. That announcement generated an unusually swift response from enthusiasts, and every single one of the 50 units allocated for the Indian market was snapped up in short order. It is worth noting that the Kodiaq RS is sold in only one configuration here, a fully loaded trim that leaves little to be desired in terms of equipment.
What Powers The Kodiaq RS
Under the bonnet sits a 2.0 litre four cylinder TSI petrol engine, tuned to produce 261bhp and 400Nm of torque. That represents a healthy jump of 60bhp and 80Nm over the standard Kodiaq, giving the RS a noticeably sharper character on the road.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a seven speed dual clutch gearbox working in tandem with Skoda's 4x4 system, a setup designed to make the most of the extra output while keeping things composed.
Features And Cabin Highlights
Skoda has not held back on equipment either. The Kodiaq RS gets matrix LED headlamps, 20 inch alloy wheels finished alongside red brake calipers, and a panoramic sunroof for good measure. A 360 degree camera and adaptive cruise control add a layer of convenience, while dynamic chassis control sharpens the driving experience further.
Inside, occupants are treated to front sport seats and a second row that reclines, along with an all black theme lifted by red stitching throughout the cabin. Tyre pressure monitoring and nine airbags cover the safety side of things, and rear sunshades with dynamic chassis control round off the comfort quotient.
Technology is well represented too, with a 12.9 inch touchscreen infotainment system sitting alongside a 10.25 inch fully digital instrument cluster ahead of the driver.
A Strong Start For The Nameplate
With every unit already accounted for, the Kodiaq RS has made an emphatic entry into the Indian market, and the early demand suggests Skoda may need to consider its future allocation strategy for the model.
For a brand that has built its recent India story around value oriented SUVs, the Kodiaq RS represents a different kind of statement, one aimed squarely at buyers chasing performance and exclusivity in equal measure.
