Jeep India has introduced a Compass 85th Anniversary Edition limited to only 85 units.
The special edition is priced at Rs 26.70 lakh ex-showroom and is based on the Model S trim.
Jeep India is marking 85 years of the brand's legacy with a new special edition Compass. It is called the Compass 85th Anniversary Edition, and only 85 units will be made. That makes it a rare buy, and one that Jeep fans will likely want to grab quickly.
What's New On This Edition
The SUV gets gloss black 18 inch alloy wheels along with special badges and details. Inside, the cabin turns all black with gold accents and small touches that mark the anniversary.
Buyers who want more can add the 85th Anniversary AXS Packages. These bring ambient lighting, sunroof lighting, a digital rear view mirror, and dashcams for the front and rear.
Apart from these changes, the SUV still drives and feels like a regular Compass, with the same comfort and easy daily usability.
Price And Availability
The Compass 85th Anniversary Edition costs Rs 26.70 lakh, ex-showroom. It is based on the Model S variant. Interestingly, Jeep has kept the price the same as the Model S, even though this edition comes with more features.
Engine And Safety Features
The engine stays the same too. It is a 2 litre diesel unit that makes 172 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose a 6 speed manual or a 9 speed automatic gearbox. There is also a choice between rear wheel drive and four wheel drive. This setup has always been a key part of the Compass' appeal. It sits between bigger SUVs like the Tata Safari and smaller ones like the Kia Seltos.
On safety, the SUV comes with six airbags, a 360 degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring, electronic stability control, an electronic parking brake, hill hold assist, roll over mitigation and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The digital rear view mirror is a new addition for this edition.
What This Means For The Compass
The SUV market in India has grown very competitive. Many rivals now offer more features at lower prices. The Compass has always relied on its premium image, unique design and off road strength to stand out. This anniversary edition comes at a time when that image is being tested more than before. It is not yet clear if the badge alone will be enough to compete with newer and cheaper rivals. But for now, Jeep has given buyers a rare and limited way to celebrate this milestone.
