10 new petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric models are set to launch in India through August and September 2026’
The line-up includes facelifts from Skoda, Maruti Suzuki and Tata, alongside new models from Mahindra, MG and Kia
Festive season is almost here, and carmakers in India are getting busy. A few new models have already reached showrooms in recent weeks, including the Nissan Tekton, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift, the Kia Syros EV, the Skoda Kodiaq RS, the Toyota Hilux and the Honda ZR-V.
Many more are lined up for August and September 2026, covering petrol and diesel cars along with electric and hybrid options.
New Petrol And Diesel Car Launches Expected This Month
Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler: The Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler pickup has just launched, on August 14, 2026, at a starting price of Rs 19.79 lakh. It is priced as a more affordable option than its main rival, the Toyota Hilux. Buyers get a sunroof, ventilated seats, dual zone climate control, surround view cameras and driver assistance features. Deliveries are expected to start in April 2027.
Skoda Slavia Facelift: The Skoda Slavia facelift launched on August 18, 2026. It currently sits second in sales in the C-segment sedan space, behind the Volkswagen Virtus, with the Honda City and Hyundai Verna as other rivals. Inside, the instrument cluster should grow bigger, while the 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine may get a new 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift: The Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift is expected to launch on September 5, 2026. It is likely to get a refreshed exterior, new upholstery and a bigger 10.1 inch touchscreen. There is talk that this could be the first Maruti Suzuki model to use the brand's new, more affordable hybrid system.
Tata Tigor Facelift: The Tata Tigor facelift is also set to arrive in the coming weeks, with changes similar to the recently launched Tata Tiago facelift. Expected additions include a 360 degree camera, a 10.25 inch touchscreen and wireless phone charging.
Renault Triber: The Renault Triber is set to get a new 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine, the same unit used in the Renault Kiger, making around 100 PS and 160 Nm, paired with a manual gearbox.
New Electric Car Launches Expected This Month
Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ: The Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ launched on August 15, 2026. It brings a triple screen dashboard, similar to the XEV 9e and XEV 9S, and a more open cabin with the central console divider removed. Prices at the higher tier have come down, six new TEQ features have been added, and a special Launch Edition is now on offer.
Formula E Freedom Edition: A Formula E Freedom Edition of the BE 6 has also launched, with Indian tricolour badging, FORMULAe branding, a new Rosso Impulso colour and racing inspired interior touches, while the powertrain stays the same.
MG Hector Hawk/Tomahawk: The MG Hector Hawk, also referred to as the Tomahawk, is on the way as well. Based on the Wuling Starlight 560 sold overseas, it will be the first MG model to use the brand's new ADAPT architecture, which is built to support several types of electrified powertrains, including EV, plug-in hybrid, range extender and strong hybrid setups. MG's first ADAPT based model is confirmed to be a pure EV, expected to use a 69.2 kWh LFP battery pack with a claimed range of around 530 km on the CLTC cycle.
Tata Tigor EV Facelift: The Tata Tigor EV facelift should also arrive, broadly matching the updates on the petrol facelift. It is likely to carry the same 26 kWh battery pack as the Tiago EV facelift, though range may vary slightly due to the difference in size.
New Hybrid Car Launch Expected This Month
Kia Sorento Hybrid: Kia will introduce the Sorento Hybrid on September 4, 2026, its first strong hybrid model for India. Recent teasers confirm it will come with an all-wheel drive system and AI powered in-car features. This three row SUV is expected to use a 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine, with a 2.2 litre diesel option also reported to be on offer.
With so many launches lined up over the coming weeks, Indian buyers have plenty to choose from across fuel types, just as festive season bookings begin to open.
