VinFast has separately revised prices on both its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs
As India heads into the festive shopping season, two carmakers have announced fresh price revisions within days of each other. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd has confirmed a hike across its entire lineup, while Vietnamese newcomer VinFast has quietly nudged up prices on its two electric SUVs sold in the country.
Tata Motors To Raise Prices From September 1
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd will increase prices across its car and SUV range by up to Rs 25,000, effective September 1, 2026, the company said in an exchange filing on Friday. The revision applies to its entire portfolio, covering both internal combustion engine models and electric vehicles, with the exact increase differing depending on the specific model and variant chosen.
According to the automaker, the decision stems from sustained pressure caused by rising input costs and continued inflation across the automotive supply chain. Tata Motors has noted that it continues to absorb a significant share of these additional costs internally, passing on only a portion of the burden to customers through this latest adjustment.
This marks the third such price revision from Tata Motors during 2026 alone, following an earlier increase of roughly 0.5 percent from April 1 and a further hike of up to 1.5 percent from July 1. The repeated adjustments reflect the wider cost pressures facing the Indian auto industry this year, with rival manufacturers making similar moves in recent weeks.
VinFast Revises Prices On Both Electric SUVs
Separately, VinFast has increased prices on its VF 6 compact electric SUV by Rs 90,000, a move that applies uniformly across all three variants on offer, namely Earth, Wind and Wind Infinity. Following the change, the VF 6 is now priced between Rs 18.19 lakh and Rs 20.09 lakh, ex-showroom. This represents the second such increase for the model within roughly a year, the first having taken effect in January 2026 once introductory pricing came to an end.
The brand has also revised prices on its larger VF 7 electric SUV, with the hike ranging between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.13 lakh depending on the variant chosen. The VF 7 is now available from Rs 22.99 lakh for the base trim, rising to Rs 28.09 lakh for the top specification, ex-showroom.
What This Means For Buyers
With multiple manufacturers adjusting prices within the same window, prospective buyers eyeing a purchase ahead of the festive season may wish to factor in these revised figures before finalising a booking.
Given that further hikes from other carmakers cannot be ruled out in the coming weeks, those close to a decision may find it worthwhile to confirm on-road pricing directly with their nearest dealership.
