India's Top 10 Best-Selling Cars In July 2026

Maruti Suzuki commanded six of the ten podium spots as the country's leading models together crossed the two lakh unit mark, with the Punch nearly doubling its year-on-year volumes to stand out as the fastest-growing name on the list.

  • Maruti Dzire led the pack in July 2026, with the top 10 models together crossing two lakh units sold

  • Tata Punch was the fastest-growing model in the list, with sales nearly doubling year-on-year

India's passenger vehicle industry closed July 2026 on a strong note. The month's top 10 best-selling cars together moved 2,00,868 units. That marks a robust 37.55 per cent jump over the 1,46,029 units sold during the same period last year.

Maruti Suzuki continued its firm grip on the charts, placing six of its models within the top 10. Tata placed two models on the list, while Hyundai and Mahindra held one spot each.

Dzire And WagonR Lead The Pack

The Maruti Dzire held onto the top position with 23,791 units sold. That is a healthy 13.86 per cent growth over the 20,895 units recorded in July last year. The compact sedan alone made up nearly 12 per cent of the combined sales of all ten models.

Trailing not far behind was the WagonR, which moved 23,338 units. That is a striking 58.65 per cent rise, adding over 8,600 units to its tally compared to the previous year. It is a clear sign that the hatchback still holds strong appeal among buyers.

Ertiga, Swift And Punch Follow Closely

Third place went to the Ertiga, which recorded 21,606 units and a 30.13 per cent increase. The Swift followed with 21,538 units and a 51.78 per cent jump.

The standout performer, however, was the Tata Punch, including its electric version. It nearly doubled its numbers with a remarkable 97.62 per cent growth to reach 21,313 units. That made it comfortably the fastest-growing model among the top 10.

The mini SUV also quietly crossed a significant milestone during the month, having sold over eight lakh units since it was first launched five years ago.

Fronx, Baleno And Creta Round Off The Mid-Table

The Fronx kept up its momentum with 19,473 units and 51.28 per cent growth. The Baleno was not far off, posting 18,241 units for a 45.89 per cent rise.

The Hyundai Creta, along with its electric variant, took eighth place with 18,088 units. That is a comparatively modest 7.04 per cent increase, though the newly introduced Creta Electric appears to be adding steadily to the model's overall pull.

Nexon And Scorpio Complete The List

Rounding off the list was the Tata Nexon, including its electric version, in ninth place with 17,471 units and 36.23 per cent growth.

In tenth came the Mahindra Scorpio and Scorpio N, with 16,009 units, up 16.45 per cent year on year. The Scorpio N's updated version is expected to launch on August 14, 2026, and units of the refreshed SUV have already begun reaching dealer yards ahead of that date.

SUVs Continue To Drive Buyer Preference

Taken together, the July numbers reflect just how firmly SUVs and crossovers have settled into the everyday choices of Indian car buyers, with the Punch, Creta, Nexon, Scorpio and Fronx all featuring prominently. Maruti Suzuki's spread across hatchbacks, sedans, crossovers and MPVs meanwhile shows why the brand continues to lead the charts so comprehensively, even as rivals post sharper individual growth rates.
