Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe Revealed: New Entry-Level Electric Performance Sedan

Mercedes-AMG has expanded its all-electric GT 4-Door Coupe lineup with the introduction of the new GT 53. Positioned below the GT 55 and GT 63, the new model combines dual-motor all-wheel drive, a high-performance battery and AMG-specific driving technology, offering a more accessible entry point into the brand's latest electric performance sedan range.

  • The new GT 53 becomes the most accessible model in Mercedes-AMG's electric GT 4-Door Coupe lineup, producing 544hp through a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.

  • It features a 106kWh battery, supports up to 600kW DC fast charging and can recover up to 534km of WLTP range in just 10 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the GT 53 4-Door Coupe, expanding its new electric performance sedan lineup with a more accessible variant. While it sits below the GT 55 and GT 63 in the range, the GT 53 retains many of the technologies found in its higher-spec siblings, including all-wheel drive, adaptive suspension and an 800V electrical architecture.

Performance and Battery

While higher-tier variants utilise three electric motors, the GT 53 relies on a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) layout. It generates 544 hp and 800 Nm of torque, propelling the four-door electric coupe from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.

While the GT 53 offers strong performance, it produces 272hp less than the GT 55 and 625hp less than the GT 63, placing it as the entry-level model in the electric GT lineup.

The GT 53 features an 800V electrical architecture with support for up to 600 kW DC fast charging. Under suitable conditions, Mercedes-AMG says it can recover up to 534km of WLTP driving range in just 10 minutes. Mercedes-AMG claims a maximum WLTP driving range of up to 793km.

Designed to Stand Apart

The GT 53 follows the same overall design language as the rest of the electric GT family, with a few model-specific styling elements. At the front, it features AMG's signature grille design with vertical slats and star-shaped daytime running lights. The clean body surfaces, flush door handles and sloping roofline contribute to its streamlined appearance.

At the rear, the coupe receives three-element LED tail-lamps inspired by the Vision AMG concept, along with an integrated rear diffuser and an active rear spoiler that deploys automatically at higher speeds to improve stability.

Cabin Focuses on Technology and Comfort

Inside, the GT 53 features a driver-focused cabin with a digital layout similar to the rest of the GT range. The dashboard houses a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch central infotainment touchscreen and an optional 14-inch passenger display.

Additional features include a switchable panoramic glass roof, dual wireless charging pads, drive mode selection (Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Eco and Individual), a 507-litre luggage compartment and a 62-litre frunk.

Performance-Orientated Driving Features

Mercedes-AMG has equipped the GT 53 with several technologies designed to enhance the driving experience.

These include:

  1. Simulated manual gearshifts through steering-wheel paddles in AMGFORCE Sport+ mode.

  2. Artificial powertrain sound inspired by Mercedes-AMG's turbocharged inline-six engine.

  3. AMG air suspension with adaptive damping.

  4. Fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.

  5. Torque vectoring across the rear axle.

  6. Active rear spoiler for improved high-speed stability.

India Launch Yet to Be Confirmed

Mercedes-Benz has not announced an India launch for the all-electric GT 53. For now, the GT 4-Door Coupe continues to be sold in the country with a combustion engine, priced at ₹3.27 crore (ex-showroom).
