The BMW i5 LWB will be locally assembled in India and is expected to launch in September, with bookings now open.
It gets an 81.6 kWh battery, a 268 bhp rear-wheel-drive motor and a claimed MIDC range of up to 669 km.
BMW has unveiled the i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB) for the Indian market ahead of its expected launch in September 2026. Bookings for the electric sedan are now open, and it will become BMW's second locally assembled electric vehicle in India.
The i5 LWB will initially be available with a first edition for the first 99 buyers, which adds specific exterior and interior details along with a rear-seat entertainment package.
BMW i5 LWB Gets a Longer Wheelbase
The India-spec BMW i5 LWB measures approximately 5.1 metres in length and has a 3.10-metre wheelbase. According to BMW, both the overall length and wheelbase are 100 mm longer than those of the standard-wheelbase i5.
The additional length is concentrated in the long-wheelbase configuration, giving the India-spec model different proportions from the standard i5 currently available in the country.
