Kia Syros EV Battery And Range Details Revealed

Kia has quietly opened bookings for the Syros EV against a token payment, with dealer sources now shedding light on what buyers can expect from the electric crossover. The model is set to share its battery architecture with the Carens Clavis EV, offering two range options, while its design and cabin are tipped to carry EV specific tweaks over the standard car. A launch is expected before this month draws to a close, with pricing likely to sit in a competitive bracket.

  • Kia has informally opened bookings for the Syros EV ahead of its expected launch this month

  • Dealer sources suggest two battery options offering claimed ranges of around 420 kilometres and 520 kilometres

Bookings Open Ahead Of Official Launch

Kia appears to be gearing up for the arrival of the Syros EV, having unofficially begun accepting bookings for a token sum of Rs 25,000. This will mark the brand's second attempt at converting one of its combustion models into a fully electric offering in India, following a similar approach with the Carens Clavis EV.

Dealer sources have indicated that the car could reach showrooms before the end of July 2026, and some early details about its underpinnings have started to trickle out.

Battery Packs And Expected Range

According to dealer sources, the Syros EV is likely to borrow its battery packs directly from the Carens Clavis EV. This would mean a 42kWh unit for the standard range variant and a larger 51.4kWh pack for those wanting extra distance between charges.

The smaller battery is expected to return a certified range in the region of 420 kilometres, while the bigger pack could push that figure closer to 520 kilometres.

Both are believed to be paired with a motor mounted at the front, though Kia has not yet disclosed how much power or torque buyers can expect.

Design Changes Over The Regular Syros

Sources close to the matter suggest the electric version will not simply be a badge swapped version of the existing model. Instead, it should pick up a handful of visual tweaks that set it apart from its petrol sibling, echoing the treatment given to the Carens Clavis EV.

Expect a distinct set of alloy wheels, brake callipers finished in a shade of green, fresh EV badging and mild changes to the front fascia. Camouflaged test mules have already been spotted testing on Indian roads in recent months, hinting that development is well underway.

Cabin Features And Equipment

Inside, the Syros EV is tipped to largely retain the layout of the regular model, albeit with a different colour theme to mark it out as the electric variant. If the feature list mirrors that of the standard car, buyers could get twin 12.3 inch displays for the touchscreen and driver's instrument cluster, a smaller 5 inch panel for climate controls, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver's seat and ventilation for both front seats and the rear seat base.

Whether the advanced driver assistance suite makes the cut remains uncertain, given that it was dropped from the petrol Syros during its recent update.

Expected Pricing And Rivals

Dealer sources peg the likely price bracket for the Syros EV between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom. At that price point, it would go up against established electric rivals in the compact SUV space, positioning itself as a value driven alternative for buyers stepping into their first electric vehicle.
