As anticipation builds for the imminent launch of the Tata Punch EV on January 17, 2023, let's take a closer look at the six most affordable electric cars currently gracing Indian roads.

  1. MG Comet EV (Rs 7.98 lakh – Rs 9.98 lakh)

MG Motor's three-door compact, the Comet, is a shining star in the EV lineup. Powered by a 17.3 kWh battery, it delivers 42 bhp and 110 Nm torque, offering a commendable range of 230 km on a single charge.

  1. Tata Tiago EV (Rs 8.69 lakh — Rs 12.04 lakh)

With two battery pack options – 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh – the Tiago EV boasts outputs ranging from 60.3 bhp to 74 bhp. Its impressive range varies from 250 km to 350 km, catering to diverse preferences in the affordable electric car segment.

  1. Citroen eC3 (Rs 11.61 lakh – Rs 12.49 lakh)

Citroen's eC3, a crossover hatch, showcases a robust performance with a 29.2 kWh battery, delivering 76 bhp and 143 Nm torque. The car promises a range of 320 km and accelerates from 0 to 60 kmph in 6.8 seconds.

  1. Tata Tigor EV (Rs 12.49 lakh — Rs 13.75 lakh)

As the most pocket-friendly EV sedan, the Tigor offers 74 bhp and 170 Nm torque. With a range of 315 km, it stands out as an economical yet powerful choice in the electric sedan market.

  1. Tata Nexon EV (Rs 14.74 lakh — Rs 19.94 lakh)

Available in both medium-range (MR) and long-range (LR) battery options, the Nexon EV combines power with versatility. Ranging from 123 bhp to 143 bhp, it offers diverse choices with impressive ranges of 325 km to 465 km.

  1. Mahindra XUV400 Pro (Rs 15.49 lakh — Rs 17.49 lakh)

The recently facelifted XUV400, now known as XUV400 Pro, introduces two battery options – 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh, delivering peak ranges of 375 km and 456 km respectively. The electric SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.3 seconds, emphasizing performance alongside sustainability.*
