Tata Sierra EV Base Variant to Get 65 kWh Battery Pack: Expected Range, Features and Launch Details

Tata Motors is expected to offer the upcoming Sierra EV with multiple battery pack options, making the premium electric SUV accessible to a wider range of buyers. New reports suggest the entry-level variant will feature a 65 kWh battery pack, while higher trims could deliver a significantly longer driving range with a larger battery.

  • Dealership sources indicate that the entry-level 'Pure' persona will feature a 65 kWh battery pack, while premium trims will offer a larger 75 kWh unit.

  • The Sierra EV is expected to inherit its powertrain configurations directly from the Harrier EV, offering both single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD setups.

Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of the all-new Sierra EV, one of the most anticipated electric SUVs in the company's future portfolio. According to the latest reports, the upcoming model will be offered with multiple battery pack options, allowing buyers to choose between affordability and extended driving range.

The Sierra EV is expected to become one of Tata's flagship electric SUVs, combining modern technology, premium features and the iconic Sierra nameplate. The latest development suggests that the company is focusing on making the electric SUV accessible to a broader customer base without compromising on performance or practicality.

Tata Sierra EV Battery Options and Performance

The upcoming Sierra EV is expected to be offered with two battery pack options. The base variant is likely to feature a 65 kWh battery pack paired with a single rear-mounted electric motor (RWD), producing 238 bhp and 315 Nm of torque. Thanks to its lighter body compared to the Harrier EV, it is also expected to offer an impressive driving range.

Higher variants are expected to get a 75 kWh battery pack with Tata Motors' Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) dual-motor AWD system. This setup is likely to produce 504 Nm of combined torque and deliver a claimed MIDC range of over 600 km, offering stronger performance and better long-distance capability.

Tata Sierra EV Expected Features and Technology

The upcoming electric SUV is expected to feature a premium cabin loaded with modern technology and comfort features.

Expected highlights include:

  • Large touchscreen infotainment system

  • Fully digital instrument cluster

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • Ventilated front seats

  • Connected car technology

  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

  • 360-degree camera

  • Level 2 ADAS

  • Multiple drive modes

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability (expected)

These features are expected to position the Sierra EV as one of Tata Motors' most technologically advanced electric vehicles.

Expected Launch Timeline and Rivals

Tata Motors is expected to launch the Sierra EV in India later this year, ahead of the internal combustion engine (ICE) version.

Once launched, it will compete with premium electric SUVs such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki eVitara, MG ZS EV, and upcoming mid-size electric SUVs in the Indian market. If the reported battery options make it to production, the Sierra EV could become one of Tata Motors' most versatile electric SUVs, offering buyers a choice between value, performance and long-range capability in the premium electric SUV segment.
