Range Rover SV Ultra Revealed as the New Flagship Trim

Land Rover has pulled the wraps off the Range Rover SV Ultra, the highest-specification version of its flagship SUV. The new variant elevates the already-premium SV trim with a focus on bespoke interior materials, a first-of-its-kind electrostatic sound system with haptic feedback technology, and powertrain choices that include a V8 and a plug-in hybrid option.

  • The Range Rover SV Ultra debuts as Land Rover's new flagship trim, packed with premium interior upgrades, including an exclusive electrostatic sound system.

  • Power comes from a 537hp twin-turbo V8 or a plug-in hybrid, with the exterior getting an exclusive Titan Silver paint finish.

Land Rover has revealed the Range Rover SV Ultra, positioned as the highest-specification version of its flagship SUV. Rather than an all-new model, this is very much a refinement exercise.

The SV Ultra builds on the standard SV with a stronger focus on material finishes and in-cabin technologies, particularly around audio and occupant comfort, rather than changes to the vehicle's design or layout.

A Cabin Defined by Craftsmanship and Considered Detail

Step inside and the differences become immediately apparent. The SV Ultra gets a new Orchid White and Cinder Grey interior finish. The seats feature a mosaic perforation pattern, and the cabin also gets a gloss white ceramic finish on the gear lever and buttons in the centre console. More notably, a rattan palm wood veneer finish replaces conventional trim, running across the dashboard and door panels.

Other elements include illuminated SV Ultra sill plates, configurable ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, cabin air purification and electrically operated rear sunblinds.

On the technology front, the SUV gets a 13.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 13.7-inch digital driver display, heads-up display and 13.1-inch rear seat entertainment screens. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and voice control are also included.

The Electrostatic Sound System and Haptic Feedback Technology

The most genuinely novel aspect of the SV Ultra is its audio setup. A key highlight is the new electrostatic sound system, which uses 21 thin-film speakers integrated into the headrests, seatbacks, headlining and other parts of the cabin.

These work with the Body and Soul Seat (BASS) system and Sensory Floor, which use seat-mounted and floor-mounted transducers to convert audio into physical haptic feedback.

On top of that, the system also offers six wellness modes, which adjust vibration patterns for relaxation or focus. It is an unusual direction for a luxury SUV, one that blurs the line between motoring and well-being.

Exterior Upgrades That Set It Apart From the Standard SV

From the outside, the differences are subtler but still deliberate. The SV Ultra introduces a new Titan Silver paint finish, exclusive to this variant.

Satin Platinum and Silver Chrome finishes are used across the body, along with SV-branded detailing. The SUV rides on 23-inch alloy wheels finished with Satin Platinum inserts and new Range Rover centre caps. It is a restrained look, as one would expect from a car of this standing.

Powertrain Options for the Range Rover SV Ultra

The SV Ultra is offered with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine producing 537hp and 750 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. It has a claimed 0-100kph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 261kph.

For those with a preference for electrification, a P550e plug-in hybrid version is also available, although detailed output figures have not been disclosed.

The Range Rover SV Ultra, then, is not about reinventing the wheel. It is about taking what is already one of the world's most capable luxury SUVs and pushing the interior experience a step further, particularly for those who want their motorcar to feel as much like a personal sanctuary as a means of transport.
