2026 BYD Atto 3 Unveiled at Beijing Auto Show with Flash Charging and 630 km Range

BYD has taken the wraps off the new-generation Atto 3 at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, bringing substantial upgrades in size, technology and battery performance. The updated compact electric SUV arrives with a noticeably larger body, a thoroughly revised interior and two Blade Battery options offering up to 630 km of claimed range. Most notably, BYD's new Flash Charging technology can replenish the battery from 10 to 97 per cent in just nine minutes, setting a new benchmark in charging convenience.

  • The 2026 BYD Atto 3 makes its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, arriving with notable upgrades in dimensions, technology and battery performance.

  • BYD's new Flash Charging system can top up the battery from 10 to 97 per cent in just nine minutes, representing a remarkable leap forward in charging speed.

BYD has officially unveiled the next-generation Atto 3, also known as the Yuan Plus in China, at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. Positioned as a compact electric SUV, the updated model brings meaningful improvements across the board from exterior design and cabin quality to battery capacity and charging speed. It is a comprehensive refresh, and the numbers alone make a compelling case.

A Larger, More Purposeful Design

The new Atto 3 carries BYD's latest design language, wearing a revised front fascia, sharper LED headlamps and a more sculpted front bumper.

Semi-flush door handles, new alloy wheel designs up to 19 inches in size and an illuminated BYD logo at the rear round off the exterior updates. The overall silhouette remains familiar, yet it reads as noticeably more modern and aerodynamic.

Dimensionally, the car has grown in every direction. It now measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height. Compared to the current India-specification model, that translates to 210 mm more length, 20 mm more width and 60 mm more height.

The wheelbase has also stretched by 50 mm to 2,770 mm, which should contribute to more generous rear-seat legroom. Boot space stands at approximately 750 litres, with further storage available in the frunk.

A Cabin That Earns Its Upgrades

Step inside and the improvements are just as apparent. The new Atto 3 receives a revised dashboard layout, a new two-spoke steering wheel and a considerably enhanced feature set.

Passengers are treated to a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a 16-speaker audio system, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, wireless charging and USB Type-C ports.

A heated and cooled storage box adds a thoughtful touch of practicality, while the front passenger seat gains a reclining function for those longer journeys.

Two Battery Options and One Standout Charging Claim

The new-generation Atto 3 is available with two battery variants, a 57.54 kWh pack and a larger 68.54 kWh unit. Both are built on BYD's updated Blade Battery technology.

Claimed range figures, measured under CLTC testing conditions, stand at 540 km and 630 km, respectively. A rear-mounted electric motor drives both variants, with output reaching up to 326 hp (240 kW), and the SUV retains a rear-wheel-drive configuration throughout.

The headline upgrade, however, is BYD's new Flash Charging technology. The system brings the battery from 10 to 97 per cent in just nine minutes, a figure that makes most conventional fast-charging solutions look pedestrian by comparison.

In China, buyers will also have access to a LiDAR-based advanced driver assistance system, adding a further layer of safety and automation to the package.

India Launch Remains Unconfirmed

The Atto 3 is currently BYD's most accessible electric offering in India. Should the new generation reach Indian shores, it would arrive as a considerably more capable product than its predecessor and continue to take on the MG ZS EV and other upcoming EVs in the segment. That said, BYD has not provided any official confirmation regarding an India launch timeline as yet, and a phased global rollout is expected.
