The Honda City receives its second facelift since 2020, with upgraded tech, a sharper cabin, and familiar powertrains carried over.
The all-new Honda ZR-V arrives in India as a premium hybrid SUV, slotting between the HR-V and CR-V in Honda's global lineup.
Honda India has officially confirmed that two new products will go on sale simultaneously on May 22, 2026, the updated Honda City sedan and the all-new ZR-V hybrid SUV. It is a bold double act from a brand that has historically preferred to let each car breathe on its own. The move signals renewed confidence and a clear intent to cover more ground across different buyer profiles in one decisive step.
The Honda City Facelift Gets a Well-Deserved Refresh
The Honda City has been on sale in its current fifth-generation form since 2020 and received its first facelift back in 2023. This 2026 update is its second mid-life refresh, and while the exterior changes are expected to be measured rather than dramatic, the real story lies inside the cabin.
Revised LED headlamps, a refreshed grille, updated bumpers, and new alloy wheel designs are expected to freshen up the exterior, while the overall clean silhouette remains intact.
Cabin Upgrades Bring the City in Line With Rivals
Inside, the updates are more substantial, with ventilated front seats, a powered driver's seat, a 360-degree camera, and a larger infotainment system with improved connectivity all expected to feature. Level-1 ADAS is also likely to be made standard, strengthening the overall safety package.
In a segment where rivals such as the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia have been raising the bar steadily, these additions should help the City hold its own.
Familiar Engines, Proven Efficiency
The 2026 City will continue with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated iVTEC petrol engine producing 119 bhp and 145 Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.
The popular e:HEV hybrid variant also carries over, pairing a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with two electric motors for a combined output of around 124 bhp and 253 Nm, with a fuel efficiency figure of 27.26 kmpl. That number alone makes the hybrid version one of the most frugal choices in its class.
Pricing for the 2026 City facelift is expected to sit between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 19.5 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), with the hybrid variant coming in at around Rs 24 lakh on-road.
The Honda ZR-V Brings Hybrid Muscle to India's Premium SUV Space
The ZR-V is an entirely different proposition. Already on sale globally, it sits between the HR-V and CR-V in Honda's lineup, measuring 4,568 mm in length with a 2,657 mm wheelbase.
The design is confident and contemporary, with slim LED headlamps and a sweeping roofline that gives it a presence beyond its dimensions.
A Feature-Rich Interior and a Punchy Hybrid Powertrain
Inside, the ZR-V comes equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, wireless charging, and a powered tailgate.
Safety is handled by the full Honda Sensing suite, which covers adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist among other functions.
Under the bonnet, the e:HEV system combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with dual electric motors, producing 181 bhp and 315 Nm of torque. For a car expected to be priced at around Rs 40 lakh, that is a genuinely compelling package.
