MG Windsor EV standard versions cost up to Rs. 60,000 more, but some battery rental versions cost less
Mahindra Scorpio now starts at Rs. 13.37 lakh after prices rose on all four versions
Two well known SUVs are back in the news, this time for their price tags. JSW MG Motor India has changed the prices of the Windsor EV, and Mahindra has done the same for the Scorpio. But the changes do not move in the same direction for both cars.
MG Windsor EV Prices Go Both Ways
Let us start with the electric SUV. If you are buying the Windsor EV the normal way, you will now pay more. The base Excite version, which only comes with the smaller 38kWh battery, sees the biggest jump of Rs. 60,000. It now costs Rs. 14.70 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Exclusive and Essence versions cost Rs. 46,900 more each, taking them to Rs. 16 lakh and Rs. 17 lakh. If you pick the bigger 52.9kWh battery, the Exclusive Pro costs Rs. 51,900 more, and the top of the line Essence Pro costs Rs. 39,900 more.
Things look different for buyers who choose the Battery as a Service plan, where you pay separately for the battery. Here, the Exclusive and Essence versions actually got cheaper by Rs. 13,100 each. However, the Pro versions under this plan still went up, by the same Rs. 51,900 and Rs. 39,900 as before.
As for range, the smaller battery can go 332km on a full charge, while the bigger one can do 449km. The Windsor EV still competes with the Tata Nexon EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
Mahindra Scorpio Costs More on Every Version
Unlike the Windsor EV, the Mahindra Scorpio has become more expensive across the board, and the new prices apply immediately. The SUV comes in four versions, the S diesel MT 7S, S diesel MT 9S, S11 diesel MT 7S and S11 diesel MT 7S CC. The first two now cost Rs. 37,000 and Rs. 39,000 more. Both S11 versions cost Rs. 40,000 more each.
After this change, the Scorpio now costs between Rs. 13.37 lakh and Rs. 17.40 lakh, ex-showroom. Nothing about the car itself has changed. It still uses the same 2.2 litre four cylinder diesel engine, making 130bhp and 300Nm, paired only with a six speed manual gearbox.
This is not the first price hike from Mahindra this year. The brand has already raised prices on the Bolero Neo, XUV 7XO, XEV 9S, XUV 3XO and Thar, so it looks like prices across its range are being adjusted step by step.
