Only fifty units each of the Cyberster and M9 Couture Editions will be made
MG Select has pulled off a rather unusual crossover, teaming up with fashion designer Gaurav Gupta to create special Couture Editions of its Cyberster roadster and M9 luxury MPV. It is the kind of pairing more often seen among European luxury marques, and its arrival in India signals that MG wants its premium retail arm to be seen in a different light altogether.
Just fifty examples of each model are earmarked for the country, making them among the most exclusive cars the brand has offered here.
What makes the Couture Editions different
Rather than settling for a fresh paint job or a sportier badge, MG has leaned properly into the fashion tie-up. Both cars pick up design cues from Gupta's Serpent Infinity motif, translated into layered textures and hand-finished detailing that echo his couture work. It is less a special edition in the usual sense and more an attempt to blur the line between automotive design and wearable art.
The Cyberster also had its moment on the runway, forming part of Gupta's Light Song collection showcase at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, which rather underlines how seriously this project has been taken.
This is not the first time the two have worked together either. Earlier in the year, MG and Gupta had shown an early take on the Cyberster's couture treatment at his menswear store in New Delhi. What was then a design exercise has now been turned into something buyers can actually order.
Booking process and exclusivity
Both the Cyberster and M9 Couture Editions will be sold only through the MG Select network, the company's dedicated premium channel.
Pre-reservations have already opened, though customers will need to wait a little longer to find out what these cars will actually cost, with MG confirming that prices will be announced on August 3, 2026.
No changes under the skin
For all the visual reinvention, MG has been clear that neither car receives any mechanical or feature upgrades over the standard versions. The regular M9 is priced from Rs 75.90 lakh and uses a 245hp, 350Nm electric motor with a 90kWh battery good for an ARAI-claimed 548km of range.
The Cyberster, priced from Rs 77.50 lakh, sticks with its dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 510hp and 725Nm, drawing from a 77kWh battery rated at 580km on the MIDC cycle. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.
Speaking about the collaboration, MG Select's leadership described it as a step towards building luxury experiences that go beyond the car itself, while Gupta noted that the project let him carry his sculptural design approach into the world of mobility.
With only fifty units of each on offer, the Couture Editions are clearly aimed less at everyday buyers and more at collectors chasing something genuinely one of a kind.
