Ferrari has pulled the wraps off the Amalfi Spider in India, giving buyers an open-top alternative to the recently launched Amalfi coupe. The drop-top model carries a starting price of Rs 4.6 crore, ex-showroom, and slots in as the successor to the outgoing Portofino line in the brand's grand touring range.
What Sets The Spider Apart From The Coupe
Underneath the theatrics, the Spider shares its entire mechanical and technical package with its hard-top sibling. Every specification, from the chassis to the cabin electronics, carries over unchanged, and the only real point of difference lies above the beltline.
Buyers who fancy wind in their hair without sacrificing performance now have that option on the table, and pricing reflects the premium one would expect for a folding roof rather than any change in engineering ambition.
Engine And Performance Figures
Power comes from a 3.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol unit that Ferrari has tuned to deliver 640bhp along with 760Nm of torque. This is sent to the road through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and the sprint from standstill to 100kmph is claimed at a swift 3.3 seconds.
What makes that figure notable is that it matches the coupe's timing almost to the tenth, despite the Spider carrying an additional 86kg thanks to its folding roof mechanism and the reinforcements that come with losing a fixed top.
How The Roof Works
The soft-top itself is the star of the show mechanically speaking. It can be raised or lowered electrically in a claimed 13.5 seconds, and Ferrari has engineered it to operate at speeds of up to 60kmph, so owners are not forced to stop and pull over every time the weather turns.
Design Highlights And Equipment On Offer
Visually, the Spider borrows heavily from the coupe, with the same sculpted front fascia, 20-inch alloy wheels and full LED lighting carried over. A quartet of exhaust tips sits at the rear alongside a diffuser finished in gloss black, while an active spoiler helps manage airflow at speed.
Inside, occupants get a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, a 15.6-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.8-inch display for the front passenger, giving both driver and co-driver their own dedicated readouts. Safety and convenience are looked after by Level 2 driver assistance systems, rounding off a cabin that feels every bit as modern as the exterior suggests.
With this launch, Ferrari now offers Indian buyers a proper choice between coupe and convertible body styles without asking them to compromise on performance, making the Amalfi Spider a fitting open-air companion to an already accomplished grand tourer.
