Five key models, spanning SUVs, an electric car and a pickup, are set to arrive in the Indian market over the next two months.
Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Kia, Mahindra and MG are each bringing updates or new offerings to strengthen their respective line-ups
The Indian car market rarely slows down, and the next couple of months look set to keep that trend alive. Five models from five different manufacturers are lined up for launch or unveiling, touching almost every corner of the market, from a compact SUV to a large one, a lifestyle pickup, a strong hybrid and an EV.
Buyers weighing up their next purchase will have plenty to consider before deciding what to wait for.
Maruti Brezza Gains A New Turbo Engine
The first major arrival will be the updated Maruti Suzuki Brezza, scheduled to go on sale later this month. Alongside styling tweaks and a larger touchscreen, the biggest talking point is the addition of a Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine producing 109 bhp and 170 Nm. This should give the Brezza a genuine performance boost while also letting it benefit from the lower tax slab applicable to smaller petrol cars.
The existing 1.5 litre petrol and CNG powertrains are expected to continue alongside it, giving buyers a wider spread of choice than before.
Toyota Readies An Updated Hilux
Toyota will unveil the refreshed Hilux on July 28, 2026. The pickup is expected to carry a sharper design along with a more contemporary cabin, though its rugged character should remain very much intact.
The bigger news lies under the bonnet, where the existing 2.8 litre diesel engine could gain a 48V mild hybrid system, a technology Toyota has already rolled out on the Fortuner.
The Hilux will continue to be offered in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, keeping its appeal intact for those who need genuine off-road capability.
Kia Syros EV Bookings Already Underway
Kia's electric SUV, the Syros EV, has already been revealed, and bookings for the model are now open. It will slot in below the Clarens Clavis EV within Kia's India range and appears aimed squarely at buyers hunting for an electric car that is both practical and reasonably priced.
That said, competition will not be easy to shake off, with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra Windsor EV already well established in this space. Kia's typically generous features list, though, could work in the Syros EV's favour.
Mahindra And MG Focus On Keeping Existing SUVs Fresh
The Mahindra Scorpio N is also due for a facelift in the coming months. Rather than reworking its design in a big way, Mahindra appears to be concentrating on cabin and feature upgrades, including a larger touchscreen and a digital driver's display, while the current petrol and diesel engines are expected to soldier on unchanged. Given how well the Scorpio N has performed since launch, this cautious approach makes sense.
MG Motor India, meanwhile, is expected to introduce the Hector Hawk, a sportier variant bringing extra equipment to the Hector line-up. Having already received a design refresh recently, this update is likely to focus on the powertrain instead, possibly marking MG's first strong hybrid offering in India with an electric-only range of around 40 to 50 km. There is also speculation the Hector Hawk could turn out to be a plug-in hybrid based on the Wuling Starlight 560, though concrete details remain limited for now.
Taken together, these five launches show manufacturers targeting rather different buyers, from Maruti's high-volume compact SUV to Toyota's tough pickup and Kia's electric newcomer, while Mahindra and MG focus on keeping their established SUVs competitive.
For prospective buyers, the challenge over the next two months may simply be deciding which launch is worth waiting for.
