Toyota has teased the design of the upcoming new generation Hilux ahead of its India launch on July 28, 2026
The pickup gets a sharper face, a revised cabin with twin 12.3 inch screens, and is expected to retain its current diesel engine
Toyota has put out a new teaser of the upcoming Hilux, offering Indian audiences a glimpse of what to expect when the pickup truck goes on display on July 28, 2026. The short clip focuses on the front and rear sections of the vehicle and points towards a far more rugged and modern design compared with the model currently on sale.
Much of what has been shown lines up with the version already sold in international markets, suggesting India will get a fairly faithful rendition of the global truck.
Exterior changes take centre stage
The most noticeable shift is up front, where the large circular badge on the current truck makes way for bold TOYOTA lettering finished in metallic silver and mounted on a blacked out band. The design looks considerably more aggressive and futuristic than before.
Sleek LED headlamps, a sculpted bonnet with pronounced metal stamping, and a body coloured grille round out the new face. Lower down, the bumper appears boxier and pairs with a blacked out skid plate for a more purposeful stance.
Around the side, the silhouette stays broadly familiar, though the truck now gets squared off wheel arches, blacked out door handles and mirror caps, along with alloy wheels. The doors carry Hilux badging finished in black.
At the rear, the tailgate features large TOYOTA lettering in a glossy black finish, while the tail lamps take on a distinctive C shaped, vertically stacked design. A built-in step in the rear bumper has also been added for easier access to the load bed. The truck continues to be offered as a double cab, and a shark fin antenna along with roll bars are visible towards the back.
Cabin and equipment get a meaningful upgrade
Inside, the changes look just as substantial. The dashboard has been redesigned with a rugged, squared off theme, and Toyota is expected to fit a pair of 12.3 inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, a clear step up from the smaller unit on the outgoing truck. The new infotainment setup is expected to support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Other likely additions include a leather wrapped steering wheel, dual zone climate control, wireless phone charging and a 360 degree camera setup, alongside a wider suite of radar based driver assistance features.
Powertrain expected to carry over
Globally, the new Hilux is offered with diesel, 48V mild hybrid, petrol and fully electric powertrain choices depending on the market.
For India, the truck is widely expected to continue with the familiar 2.8 litre four cylinder diesel engine paired with a low range transfer case for off road use, with a 48V mild hybrid layer possibly added on top. A manual gearbox and a torque converter automatic are both likely to be offered, as on the current model.
Pricing and rivals
Once launched, the new Hilux will continue to go up against the Isuzu V-Cross in India's small but growing lifestyle pickup segment. Given the extent of the changes, a modest increase over the outgoing model's price range of Rs 28.52 lakh to Rs 36 lakh would not be a surprise. The full specifications and pricing are expected to be confirmed at the July 28, 2026 unveiling.
