2026 Indonesia Motor Show Unveils India-Bound Jaecoo J5 EV and Maruti XL6 Facelift Preview

The 2026 Indonesia Motor Show has brought two important reveals for Indian buyers. Jaecoo showcased the all-electric J5 EV ahead of its India plans, while Suzuki unveiled the updated XL7, offering a first look at the design and features expected on the next Maruti XL6 facelift.

The 2026 Indonesia Motor Show showcased the all-electric Chery Jaecoo J5 EV, which is expected to join JSW Motors' upcoming India lineup.

  • Suzuki showcased the updated XL7 three-row MPV, offering a comprehensive visual preview of the India-bound Maruti Suzuki XL6 facelift.

The 2026 Indonesia Motor Show has become a showcase for two models that could soon make their way to Indian roads. Jaecoo has taken the wraps off the J5 EV, an all-electric SUV that is expected to be introduced in India through its partnership with JSW.

At the same time, Suzuki has revealed the refreshed XL7, providing a strong indication of what the next Maruti XL6 facelift could look like.

While the two vehicles cater to different segments, both highlight the growing focus on electrification and updated family vehicles for markets such as India.

Jaecoo J5 EV Makes Official Debut

Chery has unveiled the Jaecoo J5 EV at the 2026 Indonesia Motor Show, giving a closer look at the brand's upcoming electric SUV. The model has already been spotted testing in India and is expected to join JSW's future product lineup.

Exterior Highlights

The Jaecoo J5 EV adopts a clean SUV design with several EV-specific styling elements, including:

  • A closed-off front grille with a right-fender-mounted charging port

  • A distinct boxy silhouette complemented by carbon-fibre exterior accents

  • 18-inch alloy wheels featuring specialized aerodynamic inserts

  • Premium Jaecoo badging across the front fascia

Feature-Rich Cabin

Inside, the SUV gets an all-black cabin with fabric upholstery and a minimalist dashboard. The dashboard is centred around a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the cabin also features dual-zone automatic climate control, twin wireless phone chargers, USB Type-C charging ports and 64-colour ambient lighting.

Suzuki XL7 Hints at the Next Maruti XL6 Facelift

The updated Suzuki XL7 showcased at the 2026 Indonesia Motor Show provides an early look at the design and equipment expected on the upcoming Maruti XL6 facelift for India. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the MPV receives several exterior and interior revisions.

Refreshed Exterior Design

The front of the XL7 has been redesigned with a larger grille, a revised bumper and updated LED lighting elements. It also gets newly styled alloy wheels and subtle styling changes at the rear, giving the MPV a fresher appearance without changing its overall character.

Cabin Gets New Features

Inside, the XL7 receives several convenience upgrades:

  • The updated dashboard features a larger 10-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity.

  • Features such as wireless charging, a 360-degree camera and Suzuki Connect enhance everyday usability.

  • The XL7 retains its practical three-row layout with automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster and refreshed interior trim.

Powertrain

The Indonesian-spec XL7 continues with a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, paired with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox. The India-bound Maruti XL6 facelift is expected to retain its 1.5-litre petrol engine with five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission options, while the factory-fitted CNG variant is also likely to continue.

Although an India launch timeline has not been announced, the J5 EV's debut suggests it remains part of JSW's future product plans for the Indian market.
