Honda ZR-V e:HEV India Launch Set for May 22, 2026

Honda Cars India is set for a significant 22 May reveal, bringing two new models to market at once. The ZR-V e:HEV, a full hybrid SUV powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 180bhp and 240Nm, has been officially teased on Honda's social media channels. Slotting into the premium SUV bracket, it is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs. 50 lakh before taxes, placing it in direct competition with European rivals from Skoda and Volkswagen.

  • Honda ZR-V e:HEV and the City facelift are both confirmed for a 22 May 2026 India launch

  • The hybrid SUV is expected to be priced at around Rs. 50 lakh before taxes, going up against the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

Honda Cars India is clearly not one to do things by halves. The Japanese automaker has confirmed that it will officially announce prices for not one but two new models on 22 May 2026, with the City facelift and the ZR-V both making their debut on the same day.

Ahead of that announcement, Honda has officially teased the ZR-V on its social media channels, giving prospective buyers their first proper look at what is shaping up to be one of the more interesting premium SUV arrivals of the year.

What Honda's Teaser Image Actually Reveals

The teaser does not shy away from detail. The image confirms that the ZR-V will wear L-shaped LED daytime running lights, a sculpted bonnet and roof rails, giving the SUV a composed, purposeful appearance without resorting to excessive visual drama.

More significantly, the teaser also confirms the model's official name as the ZR-V e:HEV. That suffix leaves very little to the imagination; it is a clear indication that the India-spec model will arrive exclusively with a hybrid powertrain, keeping it in line with Honda's broader electrification strategy.

A Hybrid Powertrain That Means Business

The global-specification ZR-V draws power from a 2.0-litre hybrid petrol engine mated to a continuously variable transmission. The combined system output stands at 180bhp and 240Nm of torque, figures that should be more than adequate for everyday urban driving as well as longer highway runs.

Honda's e:HEV technology is already well-regarded in India, where the City hybrid has earned a quiet but loyal following among buyers who prioritise refinement and efficiency in equal measure.

A Feature-Rich Cabin on the Cards

Step inside, and the ZR-V is expected to feel suitably premium. Honda is likely to equip the SUV with all-LED lighting, wireless charging, a fully digital colour instrument console, a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, a three-spoke steering wheel, and an electronic parking brake, among other appointments.

If the cabin specification aligns with what the ZR-V offers in international markets, buyers in India can reasonably expect a well-finished interior that justifies the asking price.

A Premium Price Point and Serious European Rivals

Honda is expected to price the ZR-V at approximately Rs. 50 lakh before taxes. That figure places it squarely against the Skoda Kodiaq Lounge variant and the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, both of which are established names in this segment. It is a competitive corner of the market, but the ZR-V's hybrid credentials and Honda's reputation for long-term dependability give it a credible case to make. All will become clear when official prices are announced on 22 May 2026.
