Mercedes-Benz Unveils Game-Changing E-Class LWB for India - Bookings Open Next Month

In a move set to reshape the luxury sedan market in India, Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch its highly anticipated new-generation E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) sedan. Scheduled to hit the roads later this year, this fresh iteration of one of the brand’s most iconic models promises to offer a blend of cutting-edge technology, luxurious comfort, and advanced performance options. Dealer sources have confirmed that official bookings for the E-Class LWB will commence next month, although Mercedes-Benz India has yet to make a formal announcement.

The new E-Class LWB is expected to make its debut before the end of 2024, marking it as one of the most significant releases for Mercedes-Benz in the Indian market this year. This model is particularly noteworthy as it will compete directly with the recently launched BMW 5 Series LWB, a rival that has already garnered significant attention.

A Look at the New E-Class LWB

The long-wheelbase variant of the E-Class has always been a favorite in markets like India and China, where space and luxury are highly prized. The current iteration, which has been spotted undergoing tests across India, will bring a host of updates and refinements to the popular model. While production of the outgoing E-Class has wrapped up, dealers have indicated that some inventory is still available. However, many customers are eagerly awaiting the new-generation model, leading to a flurry of unofficial bookings.

One of the key differentiators for the Indian market is that, unlike its Chinese counterpart which is offered exclusively with petrol engines, the Indian E-Class LWB will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. This decision underscores Mercedes-Benz's commitment to catering to the diverse preferences of Indian consumers.

Design and Features

The new E-Class LWB will sport a design that closely mirrors the version recently revealed in China, though with some modifications tailored for the Indian market. Notably, it will feature two distinct grille designs: a sporty version with the iconic three-pointed star prominently placed in the center and a traditional variant with a more understated logo on the bonnet.

Inside, the new E-Class promises to continue Mercedes-Benz's tradition of excellence. The cabin will boast a multi-screen setup, including a striking 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Higher variants may also offer a 12.3-inch screen for the passenger and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The E-Class LWB is set to feature a range of high-end amenities, including a reclining rear seat—an upgrade that sets it apart from the India-spec BMW 5 Series LWB.

Having recently driven the E-Class LWB in its left-hand drive (LHD) configuration, we can confirm that the vehicle offers an impressive blend of performance and luxury, setting a high benchmark for its competitors.

Upcoming Mercedes-Benz Lineup

Beyond the new E-Class LWB, Mercedes-Benz India has a lineup of exciting launches planned for the coming months. This includes the introduction of the electric G-Class, the updated AMG GT, and the opulent Maybach EQS SUV. Each of these models is expected to enhance the brand's presence in the luxury vehicle segment and offer buyers a range of options that cater to various preferences and needs.

In summary, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB is poised to be a game-changer in the Indian luxury sedan market. With official bookings opening next month, prospective buyers should prepare for a blend of sophisticated technology, unparalleled comfort, and powerful performance. Stay tuned for further updates as the launch date approaches, and get ready to experience one of the most anticipated luxury sedans of the year.
