Confirmation of the Maruti e Vitara's official launch date in India.
Important details, characteristics, and implications for the automaker's future plans of this EV.
The all-electric Maruti e-Vitara is officially scheduled to debut in India on December 2, 2025, following months of rumors and delays. On the same day, the business will make official pricing available.
At Maruti's Gujarat plant, production of the e-Vitara has already started. Units have begun to roll out, with some already being exported to the UK and Europe.
Powertrain, Range, and Battery Options
A 48.8 kWh pack and a 61.1 kWh pack are the two battery pack options that the e-Vitara will provide. The front wheels are driven by an electric motor that is coupled to both.
The EV is one of India's longer-range electric SUVs, with a 500 km range on a full charge. With a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 0% to 80% in around 50 minutes. Fast charging is also supported.
What You Get: Comfort and Features
The e-Vitara has many characteristics that are typical of a high-end, contemporary SUV. It has a 360-degree camera, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, and a sunroof. The cabin will have ambient lighting, soft-touch materials, a dual-screen digital display, and LED projector headlamps.
Among other cutting-edge safety features, the e-Vitara has Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, tire pressure monitoring, and an emergency call function.
How This Affects Maruti and the Indian EV Industry
The e-Vitara, which is the first of four battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) that Maruti Suzuki intends to introduce by 2030, is the company's first electric car in India.
The e-Vitara is positioned to compete with rivals from various automakers joining the EV industry, thanks to its affordable cost (estimated ex-showroom between ₹20–25 lakh), long driving range, and contemporary amenities. This indicates that Maruti is committed to securing a strong position in India's electric SUV segment.
The international aspirations for India's EV manufacturing are evident since production has already started and exports are in progress. The December debut is expected to be the first chance for consumers to actually drive a Maruti EV in India.
