A detailed breakdown of the features, price, and versions of the new Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition.
What features, performance, and cabin amenities set the Formula E Edition apart from the basic BE 6
Mahindra introduced a customized version of the BE 6 electric SUV called the Formula E Edition. It is being hailed as a salute to the brand's motorsport heritage and comes after the previous "Batman Edition." This version has race-inspired design elements, including new LED projector headlamps, bright decals, and sporty body cladding, to make the BE 6 stand out rather than just being a cosmetic add-on.
The Formula E Edition has the best range and performance available because it only has the larger 79 kWh battery, unlike the standard BE 6.
Cost, Efficiency, and Power
There are two trim levels available for the BE 6 Formula E Edition:
FE2: ₹ 23.69 lakh (ex-showroom)
FE3: Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom)
With a rear-wheel-drive electric powertrain producing 286 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, both trim levels are powered by a 79 kWh battery pack. This design offers a claimed range of up to 683 km (MIDC), according to manufacturer figures.
In terms of performance, the BE 6 Formula E Edition is comparable to a sporty EV rather than a standard family SUV. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in roughly 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 202 km/h.
Highlights of Design & Styling
With its muscular new bumpers, thick black cladding, circular LED projector headlamps with gloss-black bezels, race-inspired decals, and sporty body graphics, the Formula E Edition is completely different from the standard BE 6.
Four exterior colours are available to buyers: Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Tango Red, and Stealth Black. These colours are all shared with the standard BE 6.
The racing motif is also embraced by the cabin, which features an all-black interior with orange accents, edition-specific plaques, "FIA" branding on seat belts, and a fixed glass roof for a high-end feel.
Features by Trim: FE2 vs. FE3
What you get with FE2
A panoramic glass roof, high-end dual 12.3-inch screens (for infotainment and instrument cluster), wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, and a cooled storage compartment are just a few of the many features that come with the FE2 trim.
A 360-degree camera with a blind-view monitor, disc brakes on every wheel, six airbags, a tire-pressure monitoring system, auto-folding ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, and auto-dimming IRVMs are all examples of safety and convenience features.
Additionally, there are motorsport elements like the roof-mounted spoiler, white tow hooks, orange brake callipers, sporty sill panelling, and a Formula E-themed startup animation on the screens.
What is added by FE3
The FE3 version adds 20-inch alloy wheels, an adjustable suspension system for a firmer, more controlled ride, and puddle lamps to the FE2's already impressive features.
How It Compares to the BE 6 Standard
There is more to the Formula E Edition than just a physical makeover. It combines the best battery option with a number of features, some of which are unique and difficult to find in comparable BE 6 trim levels.
It's interesting to note that although the basic BE 6 Pack Two trim (which has the same 79 kWh battery) is similarly priced, it is devoid of features like auto-folding mirrors, a 360-degree camera, and other comfort and convenience features that are standard on the Formula E Edition.
Nevertheless, the Formula E Edition lacks an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), thus, the standard BE 6 range is still your only choice if you're expressly searching for ADAS capabilities.
