Kia India has been involved in some remarkable acts. It announced today that its state-of-the-art Anantapur manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh has rolled out its 1.5 millionth vehicle from the assembly belt. The milestone car was, of course, a Kia Carens and is reckoned to be one of the grand chapters in the meteoric rise of the brand in India's automobiles since it launched in August 2019. It now holds the title of India as the youngest and fastest car maker to reach this landmark.
New Carens Coming Soon
In the spirit of this event, Kia also announced the launch of the new updated Carens on May 8, 2025. While the old Caren would still be available for sale, the new model would particularly cater to those wanting a more high-end, tech-savvy MPV experience. Spy images suggested some changes in design with sharper front fascias, more streamlined LED lighting, new alloy wheels, and a more SUV-like stance.
Expected within the refreshed Carens are features such as Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and minor dashboard changes, which are supposed to make the overall experience better in terms of usability but would still retain the up-to-date functionality usually associated with Carens.
Production Leaders and Export Reach
Among these 1.5 million units, Seltos dominates the count, accounting for 700,668 units (46.7%), followed by Sonet, with 519,064 units (34.6%). The last 241,582 units (16.1%) come from Carens, with 2.6% attributed to the new entrants, Syros and Carnival.
The sprawling 536 acres of Kia's Anantapur plant is an important hub for both domestic supply and exports to over 90 countries across the globe. The fine premium styling, extensive technology, and a customer-first approach make it one of the top automotive brands in the country.
For the times to come, Kia India and Managing Director and CEO Gwanggu Lee emphasized the promise of innovation and customer satisfaction, which carefully heralds a bright future for Kia in India.
