Four Cars Set for Launch or Unveiling in India This May 2026

May 2026 is shaping up to be one of the more eventful months in the Indian car calendar. Four notable models are either set to go on sale or have their prices officially announced this month. The list spans a wide spectrum of the market, from the long-awaited Tata Sierra EV to the Honda City's second facelift, a locally assembled Mini Cooper variant, and the flagship-grade MG Majestor diesel SUV. Here is everything you need to know.

  • May 2026 brings four significant car launches and unveilings across diverse segments in India.

  • The month spans electric SUVs, petrol-powered facelifts, a diesel flagship, and a locally assembled premium model.

The Indian car market has kept up a relentless pace through the first four months of 2026, and May shows no signs of slowing down. Four vehicles are expected to either go on sale or have their prices announced this month, covering a wide swath of the market.

MG Majestor Targets the Top of the Three-Row SUV Segment

Already unveiled with bookings open, the MG Majestor is the most imposing entry on the May list.

Positioned above the Gloster in MG's Indian range and priced at an estimated Rs 39.50 lakh, this three-row SUV arrives with all-LED lighting, a massive grille, and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Cabin highlights include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 12-way power-adjustable front seats with ventilation and massage function, a panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control, and dual wireless chargers.

Power comes from a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel producing 215 PS and 478 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic and a choice between rear-wheel and four-wheel drive.

Honda City Facelift Confirmed for a 22 May Debut

The fifth-generation Honda City is receiving its second refresh since 2023 and is confirmed for a 22 May launch.

Starting at an estimated Rs 12.5 lakh, the facelift is expected to bring subtle exterior revisions and a meaningfully upgraded cabin, potentially adding a powered driver seat, a larger touchscreen, a full-digital instrument display, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera.

Honda is not expected to alter the powertrain, keeping the tried-and-tested 121 PS, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 6-speed manual and CVT options.

The City Hybrid facelift follows the same trajectory, launching simultaneously at an estimated Rs 20.5 lakh and retaining its 126 PS combined petrol-hybrid output paired with an e-CVT.

Tata Sierra EV Price Announcement Expected in May

Tata has already revealed the Sierra EV in full, but the pricing has remained pending for a while. That announcement is expected in May, with the electric SUV sitting between the Nexon EV and the Harrier EV in Tata's lineup. It carries a design largely identical to the standard Sierra, save for a sealed front grille and aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels.

The cabin features a triple-screen layout and is expected to include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS.

Multiple battery options are anticipated, with a claimed driving range of approximately 500 km on a full charge. The expected starting price stands at Rs 15 lakh.

Mini Countryman C Goes Local for a More Accessible Price Point

Mini has opened bookings for the Countryman C, a lower-specification variant set to be assembled at BMW's Chennai facility.

Priced at an estimated Rs 50 lakh, the model differentiates itself from its fully imported sibling through matte champagne-coloured trim across the grille, skid plates, and badges, while sharing the same 19-inch alloy wheels as the Countryman Electric.

Key features include a 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen, a heads-up display, and a Harman Kardon sound system, with multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and electronic stability control covering the safety side.

The power is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit producing 136 PS and 230 Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
