BMW X6 Returns to India in M60i Guise Ahead of Official Launch

After a three-year absence from the Indian market, the BMW X6 is back and making a strong case for itself. Previewed ahead of its official launch, the new X6 arrives in the potent M60i specification, boasting a 523bhp twin-turbo V8 engine, a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, and a sharply updated design that blends SUV practicality with unmistakable coupe drama. Here is everything you need to know about BMW's upcoming flagship coupe SUV.

  • The BMW X6 is set to make a comeback in India after being discontinued in January 2023, this time in the high-performance M60i specification.

  • Powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 523bhp, the X6 M60i also features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a suite of M-specific performance hardware.

BMW India has officially previewed the new X6 ahead of its market launch, signalling the much-anticipated return of the coupe SUV to the country's premium automotive landscape.

The model was displayed ahead of its official market introduction, with a launch expected in the coming months. For those who have been waiting, it has been quite a wait, the X6 was discontinued in January 2023, when it was available solely with a petrol powertrain.

A Familiar Shape, Now Sharper Than Before

The X6 has always been a car that divides opinion, and that is precisely what makes it interesting. The model was known for blending the SUV stance with the sloping roofline of a coupe, a recipe that still feels fresh and provocative in 2026. The latest generation does not abandon this philosophy; if anything, it leans further into it.

The new X6 gets a sharper front fascia with BMW's illuminated kidney grille, sleeker LED headlamps, sculpted bumpers, and prominent air intakes. Around the back, the rear receives slim LED tail lamps and a sporty bumper treatment, while large 21-inch alloy wheels and muscular haunches further add to its road presence. It is, by any measure, a car that turns heads with quiet confidence rather than outright flamboyance.

A Cabin Worthy of Its Price Tag

Step inside and the X6 does not let the exterior's promise down. The X6 is expected to feature BMW's latest curved display setup that combines the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system.

Complementing this are premium leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, connected car tech, ADAS features, and a premium audio system. It is a cabin designed to cosset its occupants while keeping the driver firmly connected to the car.

M60i Specification Means Serious Performance

The Engine That Does the Heavy Lifting

For its India comeback, the X6 is expected to arrive in the potent M60i guise. This version is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine producing 523bhp, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

That is a genuinely impressive set of numbers, and the supporting hardware does justice to them.

Full M Performance Hardware Included

Also part of the package are an M Sport exhaust system, active kidney grille, air curtains, M Sport differential, and adaptive M Suspension, making this far more than a badge exercise.

The X6 M60i is, in every meaningful sense, a performance-tuned machine dressed in luxury clothing.

Where It Sits and Who It Competes With

Once launched, the BMW X6 will sit above the X5 in the brand's SUV hierarchy and cater to buyers looking for a more style-focused alternative. In this rarefied segment, it will go up against the Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe and the Audi SQ8, two formidable rivals that have held their ground during the X6's absence. The X6 is expected to be priced between Rs. 1.50 and 1.55 crore.
