Unpacking The Toyota Urban Cruiser Pros And Cons Every Car Owner Needs To Know

Unpacking the Toyota Urban Cruiser: Pros and Cons Every Car Owner Needs to Know!

The Toyota Urban Cruiser, a compact SUV, offers a blend of style and functionality. Pros include a fuel-efficient engine, spacious cabin, and user-friendly features. On the downside, some may find the performance a bit modest, and the cabin materials may not match premium rivals. However, for those seeking a reliable urban ride with Toyota's trusted reliability, the Urban Cruiser stands out in its segment. It's a practical choice for city dwellers, balancing comfort and convenience.

 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

Are you looking for a compact SUV that is stylish, comfortable, and has striking features? The Toyota Urban Cruiser is a car that could meet your requirements.

A product of a joint venture between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, the Urban Cruiser has been well-received since its launch in 2020.

The good things about Toyota Urban Cruiser

Exterior Design:

  • The Urban Cruiser boasts a sophisticated exterior design with a strong front grille, sleek LED headlamps, and a dual-tone colour scheme.
  • It also has LED fog lamps, roof rails, and diamond-cut alloy wheels, which make it stand out from other compact SUVs.
  • The 16-inch diamond cut alloys are tastefully designed and look good in chrome.
  • Apart from a few cosmetic changes like the grille and chrome bars, it looks similar to the Maruti Brezza.

Interiors:

  • The Urban Cruiser has a spacious cabin with well-padded seats, which provide good lumbar support.
  • The car comes with a dual-tone dashboard and door trims. A seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
  • The rear seat space is the highlight of the car. The legroom and headroom are ample, even for tall passengers.
  • The boot capacity is 328 litres. You can fold the rear seats at 60:40 to make way for more luggage space.
  • The Urban Cruiser has a practical layout with adequate storage places for all your jewellery. But there are no AC vents and charging provisions at the rear.

Fuel Efficiency:

  • The Urban Cruiser offers two engine options: a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine.
  • Concerning fuel efficiency, the former provides 17.03 km/L, while the petrol-hybrid one delivers 18.76 km/L.
  • It has a fuel tank capacity of 48 litres and is also available in three variants with both five-speed manual and four-speed automatic gearboxes.

Safety Features:

  • The Toyota Urban Cruiser scored a respectable 4/5 in the Global NCAP Crash Tests. The chassis is built with crumple zones to absorb the crash impacts.
  • The car possesses dual airbags, ABS, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
  • It also has a hill-hold assist feature that is useful when driving in hilly areas.

The not-so-good things about Toyota Urban Cruiser

Limited Boot Space:

  • One of the principal disadvantages of the Urban Cruiser is its limited boot space of 328 litres. It is lower than some of its competitors in the compact SUV segment.

No Diesel Engine Option:

  • The Urban Cruiser does not have a diesel engine option.
  • The four-speed automatic gearbox is slow and not fuel-efficient either.

Average Performance:

  • While the Urban Cruiser has good fuel efficiency, its performance is average.
  • The SUV has a maximum power output of 103 bhp and a peak torque of 138 Nm. That is not ideal for customers looking for a powerful compact SUV.

Limited Availability:

  • The Toyota Urban Cruiser is only available in petrol and petrol-hybrid variants. It limits its availability in some parts of the country.
  • Customers looking for a diesel engine option might have to consider other cars in the segment.

Conclusion:

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is an elegant, comfortable, and fuel-efficient compact SUV with adequate safety features. Despite some drawbacks, it is still a decent option for customers looking for a reliable and affordable car.

While owning a car is a fantastic experience, it is essential to maintain its condition too. It includes getting regular services, timely insurance renewals, scheduling doorstep car wash, and keeping records of services and repairs.
