Safari now costs between Rs 13.40 lakh and Rs 26.50 lakh ex-showroom
Price increase ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 61,000 depending on variant
Tata Motors has quietly nudged up the price tags on its three row Safari SUV, and buyers eyeing one this month will need to loosen their purse strings a little more than before. The updated ex-showroom prices now stretch from Rs 13.40 lakh at the entry point to Rs 26.50 lakh for the fully loaded version. The hike itself is not uniform.
Some variants have crept up by a modest Rs 10,000, while others sit as much as Rs 61,000 higher than before, which suggests the brand has been selective about where it has chosen to add the extra cost. It is worth noting that this is a pure price correction, with no fresh features or mechanical tweaks bundled in to justify the difference.
Stealth Edition now reaches the top trim
In a separate but related update, Tata has widened the reach of the Safari's Stealth Edition. Until recently, this blacked out special version was restricted to a handful of variants, but it has now been made available on the range topping Accomplished Ultra trim as well, priced at Rs 24.04 lakh ex-showroom.
The Stealth treatment continues to lean on its all black exterior and cabin theme, paired with a few cosmetic flourishes that set it apart visually from the standard Safari without touching the mechanical package underneath.
Engine and transmission options remain unchanged
Under the bonnet, the Safari sticks with its familiar 2.0 litre Kryotec diesel unit, good for 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. Buyers can still choose between a six speed manual gearbox or a six speed torque converter automatic, depending on how hands-on they want their driving experience to be. There is no petrol or hybrid alternative on offer here, so the diesel remains the sole route into Safari ownership for now.
Features and safety kit stay the same
Cabin technology on the Safari has not been touched either. The SUV continues with its dual 12.3 inch display setup, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats up front and in the second row. Front seat occupants also get powered adjustment, while a ten speaker JBL sound system and dual zone climate control round out the comfort features. A Level 2 ADAS suite adds a layer of driver assistance for those who want it.
On the safety front, buyers get seven airbags as standard, along with a 360 degree camera system, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and all wheel disc brakes, all of which carry over unchanged from before this price update.
For anyone weighing up a Safari purchase in the coming weeks, it may be worth checking with a local dealership on how the new pricing applies to their preferred variant, since the increase is not spread evenly across the line up.
