Simple Energy is all set to launch its electric scooter on May 23, 2023 and it is happening after a delay of two years since the last price announcement.
The company says that it has spent all this time on the safety aspect of the battery pack. The Simple One is compliant with the revised Automotive Industry Standards (AIS) 156 that were rolled out amidst several incidents of electric two-wheelers catching fire and other thermal runaway incidents.
The company is touting the Simple One to be the country’s first premium affordable made-in-India EV, which means that it will be priced competitively. The company claims a range of 236 km on a single charge, a top speed of 105 kmph, and a 0-40 kmph dash in just 2.77 seconds. The last version of the scooter was using a 4.8 kWh battery pack with an 8.5 kW motor that generated a good 6 bhp and 72 Nm of torque. The upcoming Simple One can be expected to provide better numbers, if not at par with the previous ones. The scooter can be had in four colours: Brazen Black, Namma Red, Azure Blue, and Grace White.
It will have a customisable touchscreen TFT dash with on-board navigation. It wil have connected tech as well such as geo-fencing, remote access, remote locking, and OTA updates to name a few. The dash will also allow the rider to tether a smartphone via Bluetooth, access phone controls like accept and reject calls and change music while on the go. The scooter will be shod with 12-inch wheels, and it tips the scales at 115 kg. The scooter will retain its sharp design and all the sleek elements such as the sleek vertical headlamp unit, slim LED indicators, C-shaped taillight setup, and the stylish DRLs.
The company is also offering a three-year warranty on the vehicle, battery and on the charger. You can book one on the official website for a refundable token amount of Rs. 1947. When launched, it will take on the likes of the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, Vida V1, and TVS iQube to name a few. We can expect a sticker price of Rs. 1.10 lakh for the base variant and Rs 1.50 lakh for the top variant.
