Honda Sets Out Six-Car Roadmap for India by FY2026-27

Honda has laid out its most ambitious product plan for India in recent memory, announcing six new cars before the end of FY2026-27. The lineup covers facelifts, fresh model introductions, and the brand's first electric vehicle for the Indian market. After years of operating with a lean portfolio, the Japanese carmaker appears to be shifting gears in a decisive way, and the early launches already suggest this is more than just a promise on paper.

  • Honda has confirmed six new cars for India by FY2026-27, with three already revealed or on sale

  • The lineup includes the brand's first-ever electric vehicle for India, the 0 Alpha, with a production debut expected in 2027

Honda's India portfolio has, for a while now, felt like it was running on fewer cylinders than it should. A handful of models, modest updates, and little to grab headlines. That is about to change rather dramatically.

The brand has officially announced plans to introduce six new cars in India before the close of FY2026-27, spanning everything from refreshed favourites to entirely new nameplates and, for the first time, an electric vehicle.

Three Cars Confirmed and Already Making Moves

The plan has already begun to take shape. The Honda City facelift was the first out of the gate, arriving with a starting price of Rs. 12 lakh, ex-showroom. It is a meaningful update to one of India's most enduring sedans, and its early reception has been encouraging.

Close behind it came the India debut of the ZR-V, a hybrid SUV that marks Honda's second consecutive launch in quick succession. Prices for the ZR-V are yet to be announced, with both the pricing reveal and the start of deliveries scheduled for July.

The 0 Alpha Brings Honda's EV Ambitions to India

The third confirmed model is arguably the most significant of the lot. The Honda 0 Alpha, the brand's first electric vehicle for India, is currently in development and has already begun India-specific testing. It was previously showcased as a concept and its production-specification debut is expected in 2027. For a mainstream Japanese brand, this is a noteworthy commitment to the Indian EV space.

Three Slots Remain, and Honda Is Staying Tight-Lipped

Honda has not yet confirmed the identities of the remaining three cars, but the brand's recent hints offer some reasonable clues.

The Prelude, a hybrid sports car that has been revived globally, is a strong candidate for a CBU introduction aimed at enthusiasts and premium buyers.

The Elevate SUV, which is now approaching its third year on the market, seems well overdue a facelift. A third CBU import with a sporty or premium character has also been hinted at and could well fill the final slot.

The Bigger Picture for Honda India

Taken together, this six-car plan represents the most proactive Honda India has been in years. If the brand can execute on this schedule without delays, it stands to meaningfully strengthen its position in a market that has largely been waiting for it to step up.

The foundations are already being laid, and if the ZR-V and the 0 Alpha land as well as the City facelift has, Honda may just be on course for a genuine resurgence.
