The MG Majestor enters India as the country's first D+ SUV, priced between Rs 40.99 lakh and Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom)
It is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox
JSW MG Motor India has officially pulled the covers off the Majestor, the brand's most boldly positioned product to date.
Billed as India's first D+ SUV, the Majestor enters a fiercely competitive space dominated by the Toyota Fortuner, but does so with a noticeably different proposition, one built around sheer size, off-road hardware, and a feature list that reads more like a luxury saloon than a body-on-frame SUV.
Prices start at Rs 40.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 4x2 Automatic top trim, rising to Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the fully loaded 4x4 Automatic variant.
Variant Structure and Seating Options
The Majestor is offered in two broad configurations. Buyers opting for the 4x2 version can choose between a 6-seat and a 7-seat layout, while the 4x4 variant is available exclusively as a 7-seater.
The Toyota Fortuner, its closest rival, starts at Rs 34.76 lakh (ex-showroom), meaning the Majestor carries a Rs 6 lakh premium at entry level, a gap MG clearly intends to justify through its size, technology, and capability.
A Twin-Turbo Diesel With Class-Leading Power
Under the bonnet sits a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm of torque, figures that MG claims are the best in class.
The drive goes through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Buyers can choose between 2WD and 4WD configurations, with the 4WD system designed to operate in 2WD mode during normal conditions for better fuel efficiency, automatically engaging all four wheels when traction demands it.
Off-Road Credentials That Mean Business
What truly separates the Majestor from the pack is its off-road hardware. It gets an intelligent 4WD system with 10 dedicated off-road modes and, crucially, segment-first triple differential locks covering the front, rear, and centre axles. This setup is engineered for extreme traction in the toughest conditions.
Supporting all of this are a Crawl Control mode, 219 mm of ground clearance, and 810 mm water-wading capability.
The Biggest SUV in Its Class
MG claims the Majestor is the longest, widest, and tallest SUV in its category. It measures 5,046 mm in length, 2,016 mm in width, and 1,870 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
On the outside, the design makes a strong statement through a large Mosaic Matrix grille, Dragon Eye LED DRLs, tri-beam LED headlamps, connected LED tail lamps, and 19-inch alloy wheels, all framed by an upright, boxy stance that is immediately commanding.
A Cabin Built Around Comfort and Connectivity
Step inside, and the Majestor makes clear that MG has put considerable thought into the ownership experience.
The black-themed interior is wrapped in leather, with front seats that are ventilated, heated, and equipped with massage and memory functions. A column-mounted gear selector and electronic parking brake with auto hold add a refined touch to the driving environment.
The infotainment setup pairs dual 12.3-inch displays with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, backed by a 12-speaker JBL surround sound system.
Additional highlights include dual wireless chargers, 3-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 220V power outlet, and over 75 connected car features.
Safety Technology and the MG Shield Package
The Majestor arrives with a Level 2 ADAS suite that covers assisted steering, braking, and acceleration. Complementing this are ESP, ABS, EBD, traction control, roll movement intervention, and a 360-degree HD camera. The SUV is offered in four colour options: Pearl White, Concrete Grey, Metal Black, and Metal Ash.
Alongside the launch, MG has introduced the MG Shield ownership package. This includes a 3-year unlimited kilometre warranty, 3-year roadside assistance, and three labour-free periodic services.
Extended warranty and prepaid maintenance plans are also available, and an assured buyback scheme with up to 70% buyback value adds a financial safety net for prospective buyers.
Bookings Open, Deliveries Pending
Bookings for the Majestor are now open across dealerships and online. The SUV was first showcased in February 2026 and was initially expected to launch in April, but the timeline was pushed back.
Production has since commenced, though specific delivery dates have not yet been confirmed as June approaches.
