India celebrated its 75th anniversary of independence on August 15, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited people to fly the Indian flag at home in honour of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" as part of the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign. In addition, from August 2 through August 15, PM Modi has urged people to use the word "tiranga" as their social media profile picture. In his "Mann Ki Baat," Prime Minister Modi stated that when India celebrates 75 years of independence, "all of us will witness a magnificent and historic event."
Some people have draped the Indian flag on their automobiles, bikes, and other vehicles in addition to hoisting the Indian tricolour flag at their homes and using it as a display image on social media platforms as part of the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign. It is illegal to drape the Indian National Flag over the hood, top, sides, or rear of a vehicle, despite the fact that residents' intentions may not be bad when they drape the tiranga on their car.
According to the Flag Code of India, it is disrespectful to fly the Indian National Flag over the top, sides, back, or hood of a car, train, boat, aeroplane, or any other similar item. Anyone who violates this law is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to three years, a fine, or both, according to the Flag Code of India. The act also specifies that the National Flag shall be a tri-colour panel composed of three rectangular panels or sub-panels of equal widths.
The top panel shall be India saffron (Kesari), and the bottom panel shall be India green. The middle panel should be white, with an Ashoka Chakra design in navy blue in the centre and 24 equally spaced spokes. The Ashoka Chakra should be screen printed, otherwise printed, stencilled, or suitably embroidered and should be visible on both sides of the Flag in the centre of the white panel.
The Indian Flag Code also specifies that an appropriate size is chosen for display. Flags of 450 x 300 mm size are intended for VVIP aircraft, 225 x 150 mm size for automobiles, and 150 x 100 mm size for table flags.
