The Pune RTO is gearing up to install HSRP as April 30th approaches. The demand is high, with over 2.16 lakh orders.
Pune RTO Gears Up for Massive HSRP Installations Amid Growing Demand
Although the Maharashtra government has made High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) compulsory for all vehicles before April 30, 2025, the Pune RTO witnessed a dramatic rise of more than 2,000 orders on March 19, 2022.
Orders for 216,751 HSRPs were placed by vehicle owners, 79,483 scheduled their appointments, and 40,924 were already fitted with the new plates.
That is why Pune RTO is right now massively increasing its HSRP installation centres to prepare the processing queue for the increasing and bubbling demand due to limited appointments. The available installation centres from a previous count of 69 have now shot up to a staggering 124 and would still increase in the count.
HSRPs Made Mandatory and Its Offshoot Benefits
A tamper-proof registration plate for the government-approved HSRP was meant for better vehicle security identification. Unlike the normal user number plates, HSRP has a unique laser-etched code and hot-stamped chromium-based hologram making it difficult to replicate or tamper with.
According to Pune's Deputy Regional Transport Officer, Mr Swapnil Bhosale, the expansion of the installation centres will, under vendor capacity forecasting and demand trends, create a hassle-free and faster flow for vehicle owners.
Key Benefits of HSRP are:
Stops vehicles from being stolen as cloning and tampering are very difficult.
Fakes are reduced so that only the original plate is used.
Digital tracking and transparency in the vehicle registration process are enhanced.
Integrates with FASTag and the VAHAN database, thus improving monitoring of the vehicle.
Support fuel efficiency and environmental protection, as now better compliance to emission norms.
RTO Guidelines to Vehicle Owners
The Pune RTO urged vehicle owners to have their HSRP installed as quickly as possible to avoid all the last-minute trouble and penalty fines. There are still some important guidelines to follow:
Schedule an appointment for the HSRP installation via the official website or designated centres.
Don't procrastinate; penalties may apply to vehicles without HSRP after April 30, 2025.
For appointment issues, do visit the official RTO website for assistance.
Conclusion
The approaching April 30 deadline requires vehicle owners in Pune to act immediately to avoid unwarranted fines and delays. The expansion of installation centres by the Pune RTO would help streamline the process, but with such an enormous number of registrations pending, the advice is still that action should be taken early.
Schedule your appointment for HSRP installation now to beat the deadline for compliance with the latest regulation if you haven't done it already.
